Public Speaking

Ten years ago I was terrified of doing this, but it seems I have gotten over it. Recently I was asked to do a presentation to a local chapter of Probus. They were photography enthusiasts and the guy organising it, Don, thought they would be interested in my style of photography. I didn’t hesitate and just said yes.

stkilda-pier-morning-long-exposure

This morning I had to get up very early to head to St Kilda for a long exposure workshop. As I was heading there I was driving through so much fog. It was fantastic and I would love to have stopped to take photos, but I had to get to going. We are getting so much fog this year, so I am really excited as the last few years we have had almost none. I need to get out more.

This afternoon a friend picked me up so we could go to Alowyn Gardens in Yarra Glen for some macro photography. I am still trying out the Samyang 100mm lens and thought it would be a great opportunity to use it.

There were a lot of flowers out, so it ended up being a quick trip, but that didn’t matter. I still got some lovely shots, have coffee and a catch up with Suzzanna.

Tales by Light

Recently on Netflix I saw a program that I think all photographers should see. The show is called Tales by Light, and is an Australian production, though the photographers are from all around the world. The show follows their adventures as they travel the world to get the photos they want. This is their motto.

Behind every powerful image is a powerful story

A new Wacom Tablet

A couple of weeks ago I spoke about how I wanted to get another Wacom tablet that I could use when I go away, and last week I managed to get a look at the updated version of the Intuos Pro medium. It is basically the one I have now, but it is smaller and thinner.

It is true, I do need a new camera. I have loved my Nikon D800, but when it comes to long exposures it kinda sucks. Since most of the work I do is that, then how do I do them when I have so many problems with the final result?
