A simple post today for Floral Friday, just tulip to show you from the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. However, perhaps a little business first.
Since getting back from Tasmania it has been busy, though not in the ways I thought it would be. I have started realising that while writing is good, I need to promote myself more, so I’ve been looking into ways to do that. So today I thought we might go through some things that I want to promote.
It has been a funny old week, I’ve had another article published, but I’ve also been waiting for tradesman to contact me about work that we need done to our house. The problem with owning houses is you have to pay for things when they break, unfortunately. We have let some things go for too long and now they are going to cost a fortune to fix. It has been a big lesson for us. So in between all that I’ve been trying to get some work done.
Where has the week gone?
I don’t know either. I’ve been a bit stressed out writing an article for a magazine. It is something I am trying out, but I know it is a direction I want to continue moving towards. I finally got it in and fingers crossed it goes well.
Formatt Hitech Instagram
I’ve been given some power, well, not really, but I have been allowed to have access to their Instagram account, which is fun. I’m featuring peoples work and seeing if I can improve the number of followers. It is also nice that they trust me to do it.Take a look, here is the link.
Stop by and say hello.
Dynamic Range Magazine
Issue 6 is still available. It has some great articles in it and I’m sure you would love it. Follow the link,
The Six Seasons of My Backyard
My book is available and I think would make a great Christmas present to those wanting to help support me and my photography. Follow this link.
Teaching and Mentoring
Don’t forget that I do teach and offer mentoring for those that would like some individual lessons on how to be an artist.
You will find all my services underneath the Learn from Leanne tab at the top of the page.
Writing for the blog
I’m trying to keep up with this blog and get back into everything, but I do find that time gets away from me, especially when I have other articles I need to write.
Also I find I don’t always know what to write about. Maybe you can help and give me some suggestions, that would be great. Some ideas and what you would like to read about or learn about. I can’t promise that I will always be able to do them, but I will do my best.
I’m still open to this idea if any of you would like to do a guest blog. I can’t pay for them, but hopefully I have a large enough audience that that could help. Let me know if you are interested.
The photos are from 2014 and from an excursion I did to Williamstown. I know some of you have questioned these photos and why to know why they look different. All the old photos that I should you in these posts were done for Weekend Wanderings and meant to show a place and not my style. I hope that helps.
I am looking forward to hearing you and seeing what you would like.
It is hard to know what to talk about this week. It has been busy but mainly because I am trying to get some writing done. I think this is going to be a short post.
We are well and truly in the final stages for the next issue of Dynamic Range. We have another broad selection of articles for you. We are also so happy that Kathleen Clemons has let me interview her and we will be looking at some of her images. I’m sure those of you who get it will really enjoy it.
It will be the last issue of the magazine for those that subscribed at the beginning of the year.
Deaf Children Australia
I haven’t been there much in the last couple of years, but yesterday I went there to take photos as they celebrated their 150th anniversary of the blue stone building. I was looking at the building and thinking about how my work has changed since I was last there to photograph it, so I ask someone there if I would be able to go back. He just handed me his card. I think that meant yes. I will have to organise it now.
I will have to find some photos so we can see what I was doing and then we will have something to compare when I go back. Photos today are from 3 years ago.
I just want to talk about this briefly again, to help people understand what it is.
It really is about a discussion, a guide, a way of me to help you work out what your style is, or what direction you would like to go in. It is about me looking at your work, guiding you and helping you, but the thing that happens the most is the conversation, lots of that.
There isn’t really any. It has been good to see that people are enjoying the return of the Up for Discussion (U4D) posts. I have to start working out what to write about next week.
I think that is about it, sorry, as I said, I’m busy with writing, plus Tiddles, our cat, isn’t well, and we are a bit worried about him. He is staying at the vets tonight has they try to help him.
As I have said earlier, I thought I would do my catch up post today. While I’ve got a lot going on, I haven’t been doing a lot really. Well lots of photos. Let’s take a look.

The Six Seasons of My Backyard
My book on Banyule Flats and the seasons is getting very close to being published. We have the layout and now just need to get a couple of things and then off to the council for approval, then publishing. It is fantastic. I am really looking forward to this project being done. It feels like it has been going on forever. Still, not long now. Ordering it will be available soon. I am almost getting really excited.
For those that live in Melbourne that would like to order a copy there will be an opportunity for me to do a bulk order for you. Send me an email if you would one.
I was just having a Skype session with a lovely lady and we were talking about mentoring and what it was, and she said, is it like feedback, and I said, yes, that was it exactly. It is about helping, giving feedback, and helping you to further your photography. Here is the link to the page about it, Mentoring.
Want some help working out where you need to go next and develop further, then mentoring could be exactly what you need. Send me an email to discuss it.
I will leave it there for now. I am trying to get back into blogging more so hopefully you will start to see more posts from me. Anyway, here are some photos from a 2014 trip to Point Lonsdale.
It has been a busy time trying to get the magazine out for people ready to read, but it was done and now I can breath a little before I have to get on with other things. Don’t forget to buy your copy.
Book – The Six Seasons of My Backyard
Book on Banyule Flats
It is now time to get stuck into the book and get it finished. I have everything, pretty much that I need now, so one final push and it should be ready for publication.
It has been a long road, but so worth it, and quite an interesting experience. I do hope those waiting for it won’t mind waiting just a little longer.
I wanted to mention this again, I’ve been working on it a lot more. There are a couple of different options for those that would like a chance to be mentored by me. The page I have set up has a description of what mentoring is for those of you that are unsure.
I’ve had quite a few people wanting to do one on one’s with me, really, they just want to spend time with me and talk, so I thought maybe others would like that opportunity.
With mentoring I critique photos and help you work out what direction you want to go. You can ask me as many questions as you have over the month, and for some, the opportunity to skype with me and just talk.
When I was at University doing my fine arts degree we would have private tutorials with lecturers, also artists who would advice and guide us, and mentoring does much the same.
If you would like to be mentored by me, then go to this link.
As I said a couple of weeks again, I am going to start moving photos onto this blog, so I have some photos taken in 2014 from Sorrento. I hope you either enjoy them for the first time, or enjoy seeing them again.
It has been a while since I did a post showing you the photos that I have had up on Instagram. I usually do it with a catch up post, though all I’ve been working on recently is Dynamic Range, but I did want to tell you about something that I have decided to start offering.
I think it is time to offer it as a service. Mentoring is something that can be done online and it is a way for me to help people improve their photography.
I will critique photos, give advice, answer questions, in the form of emails, and we can have two skype sessions to discuss what you like. For this I am going to charge $300. However, I am also offering the above without the Skype sessions for $180 as well.
Mentoring can be a great way to learn without having the hassle of formal classes. If you like my photography and want to learn more about it, this can be a great way to do that.
If you are interesting click on Mentoring.
The photos have been taken in lots of different places, but I have given each one a title with where and how they were taken. Again, if you want to know more, go to my Instagram feed and you will also pick up some tips.
