Here we are once again, and once again I’m running late. I had a massive day yesterday and I didn’t seem to get time for anything, one being doing this post. There have been some amazing submissions for the theme of Shadows, it was a great one really. Always good to see what everyone has sent. I hope you enjoy them too.

We need another theme for next month, I was thinking culture, whatever that means to you. Of course, as always, your interpretation.

MM 3-41: Theme Reflections

Here we are with our next theme, Reflections. It seems many of you enjoyed this theme and I received more photos that I have for a long time. It was great to see them all coming in. Though I was a little surprised that no one sent a photo of themselves reflected in a mirror, so there you go.

Next week, and for the rest of the month you can send any monochrome image you like, that is until the first week of March when it will time for the next theme, which Debby from THEPHOTOSEYE suggested and I loved, so it will be Shadow/s. As usual, your interpretation.

It is the beginning of the month again and here we go with our monochrome madness theme. It has been great seeing all the different interpretations.

Time to work out what the next theme will be, for the first week of December, I think Square.

My photo for the travel theme. It was taken while I was traveling last year in the US. I liked the old truck, that also could mean travel. A travel photo of travel, perhaps. This was in the ghost town  of Bodie in California.

Monochrome Madness each week and if you wish to participate and submit an image here is how you do it:-

  • You must email me the image you want to include and if you have a blog or website, or somewhere else, please include the link. My email address is leanne@leannecole.com.au
  • The image size should be low res, so the largest side should be 1000 pixels or less.
  • Please insert either your name or your blogs name in the file name.
  • Remember I am on Australian time, so with GMT I am +11 hours at the moment, I publish my post on Thursday morning.
  • If you need more help with sending images, and get confused about time zones, etc, well, there is a great website called The World Clock, if you go to that and look at Melbourne time, if it’s before 6pm on Tuesday evening, then you can still send me images.  If it’s after that time, you can send me an image, but it will be set aside for the following week.
  • Remember to include a link to your blog or website.
  • Please remember to resize your images, it is fairly simply, you just need to go into any editing software and usually under Image you will find, resize, scale, or image size, something like that and you can resize your image there. Change the dimensions to pixels and make the longest side 1000 pixels or smaller, hit return, and for most types of software that should change the other side automatically as well. Just remember to save it with a different name so you know it is the smaller version.  If you have any problems, please contact me, I don’t mind helping out.

Please note you don’t have to be a WordPress blogger to be in this challenge, you can have a link to a Facebook page, a Flickr page, anywhere really, or no link.  We just want to encourage people to do monochrome images, just for the madness of it. Just to let you know also, that as soon as the challenge is published, all emails and images you have sent me are deleted from my computer.

It has arrived again, the start of the month and it is time to see our photos for the theme Pets, or cats and dogs. Not a lot of entries, perhaps not a lot of people have pets.

The next theme is going to be Travel. Your interpretation. See if you can do something different, that is my challenge to you.

REMEMBER: If you would like to join us the instructions are at the bottom of the post.

tiddles-in-monochrome

I had another photo of Tiddles I wanted to use, but for the life of me, I couldn’t find it. So the old boy had to have a quick photo shoot this afternoon and this is what I got. It is so hard to get a good photo of him, I think he hates the camera. Part of the reason for doing this theme was so I could do a photo of him. This image was taken with the Lensbaby Velvet 56.

It is the start of the month and it is time for our theme. I have been seeing lots of roads this last month it has been wonderful.

Now for the next theme, I have to think of something. Maybe something close to my heart, Cats, then I thought many like dogs, so what about Cats and Dogs. Perhaps we can extend it to Pets.

daylesford-road-fog-monochrome-victoria

So confession time, I only got this shot the day before yesterday. I had no idea what I was going to do, then on the way to Daylesford for my daughters birthday we ran into a heap of fog. I decided to stop and get a photo. She was good about it and didn’t mind at all.

It’s late, I’m sorry, but I’ve been away trying to get my image for this months theme, Movement. Finally got an image for it, so I’m feeling very relieved.  Once again there have been some great interpretations of the theme. I’m sure you will enjoy them.

The theme for September is going to be Roads. It will be the first week of September.

pink-lakes-monochrome-movement-longexposure

I was at the Pink Lakes the other day and the clouds were moving fast, and the wind was making the water choppy. I thought it would be good to try a long exposure. I used the old rotten wood of the ramp to lead you into the image. I did do it as a straight black and white, but since it was the pink lakes, I thought a pink tone might help.

This has been a great theme for MM 3-12 and I have really enjoyed watching all the images come in. There has been such a variety for the theme High and so many interpretations. Thank you to everyone who has sent in images for it.

The next theme is the first Monochrome Madness of August and it will be Movement.

new-york-high-empire-state-building-1

I had a few ideas for this, but in the end I couldn’t think of anything more appropriate than one of the images I took from the Empire State Building while I was in New York last year. I put a yellow tone over it as it made it look warmer and night lights tend to have a yellow tinge to them. I also exaggerated the curve of the earth, makes it feel like I was really high.
