A bit of a catch up

It has been a busy week and the rest of it looks like it is going to be even busier. That isn’t a bad thing, but it does make me feel like I’m chasing my tail, well if I had one. Still some plans are being made.

Facebook

The course has concluded, but I still have a lot of work to do on both the Facebook pages. I also need to implement more of what we were told in it. I have time, and I want to make sure I don’t stuff it up. I am enjoying it and like how things are going.

If you want to follow them or like them the links are in the right hand column.

Long Exposure Workshops

I have the last ones for the year this coming weekend. I have made the decision that I won’t do anymore until next year now. I need to take a break and start working on some things.

People will still be able to One on One lessons and others. I think they can fit around anything that I am doing.

Gift Vouchers

There is going to be some for people to buy for Christmas presents. They will be available for all the different things I teach. I will have them ready soon.

Introduction Posts

These used to be so popular on my other blog and I’ve been thinking about starting them again. I would love to hear what you think?

I had someone email me about them, and it confirmed for me that perhaps people do want to see them again.

I would also like to hear if there is anything else you would like to see here. I’m working on videos for Facebook and it would be possible to post them here too if people want them.

Finally

That’s all really, so I should probably leave it there. If you haven’t got your Monochrome Madness image in, you are running out of time.

  1. I love the quotes and especially love that scene with the jetty rocks…love the understated colors.

  2. I’d also like to see the introduction post series revived. Every now and than I found a new gem (and surprisingly often people I’m following, too).
I like your quotes. But, I’m curious about, what they mean for you and your style of photography (and seeing the world around you). Both quotes, from Anselm Adams and Pablo Picasso, have meanings on different layers. So, I’d be interested in getting to know, what’s the idea, you get from them.

    1. I don’t know if I will do them every week like I used to, but perhaps once a month. I was finding them a bit stressful, trying to get someone new every week. That is interesting.

I love those quotes, I feel like they give me the freedom to do what I like. I like how Adams approach is you make it, which I think I do, I get the raw image and then my thing to to. For Picasso, it is that idea that you have to learn the rules, that is what a beginner does, then the pro or the artist does what they like, they know when to bend the rules. I have been using these on my Facebook pages, I use them as I want people to understand that photography isn’t just about doing what is expected or the norm, that you can go outside the limits, explore and experiment. I hope I explained that well.

    2. Great, Leanne. For the Adams quote: in German we always say „make a photo“. I guess, that‘s because of the old chemical way to create it. Nowadays, I guess, it‘s still true, because you choose the frame, the angle of view, the focal length and the shutter speed. All if these have an impact on the final image.

I also agree with Picasso. I also use that statement in my beginner workshops, along with a recommendation to photograph much/regularly and get someone for constructive criticism. Despite, considering a life-long learning process, one won’t ever reach the „pro“ status. Beside, the basic rules of how an image „works“ are elementary and have to be the solid fundament of the image composition

    3. I always took that part to mean the post processing, what you do with it in the darkroom or nowadays on the computer.
I love the one from Picasso, probably my favourite. That is so true, you have to know that first. Thanks Solaner.

  3. Leanne, Any you can do seems to be all good. I for one would like to see your early writings.

    1. Which ones Geoff, the videos or the introductions? All my writings are still on my old blog, though I had to remove a lot of the images to get the size of the blog down.

    1. I’ve been trying to put photography and creativity quotes on my facebook pages, and they seem to look a lot nicer on a photo. Thanks Chris.
