Cranbourne Botanical Gardens – Native Flowers

Cranbourne Botanical Gardens - Australian Native Flowers

A couple of weeks ago a friend took me to the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens that feature many Australian Native flowers. It is a great place to see many.

It is definitely the right time of the year to go and visit the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens. Many of the native Australian flowers are in bloom late winter early spring. I’ve spoken about this a few times before how I suspect it could be because the summers are hot and dry and the plants need to conserve themselves. Perhaps flowering is hard work for the plants.

Australian Flowers

We do have some weird and wonderful flowers. Though the same can be said for the birds and animals as well. Australia is quite a unique country and I think I need to appreciate it more.

Many of the flowers that I have found at those gardens I’ve never seen before. Some I have. I did enjoy the day, but I made a big mistake when taking the photos and all the images were done in jpeg. I don’t think it mattered too much in the end, but I need to make sure I don’t do it again.

Macro Photography

Just before I went there I made a big decision. I haven’t said anything, but perhaps it is time. When it came to it, I decided I couldn’t sell my D850. I believe there is nothing wrong with using it just for macro. In the past I’ve talked about how much gear I have for macro photography and I don’t want to buy it again. So for the foreseeable future, it is the camera I will use for that.

However, any new macro lenses or whatever I get, they will be for the Fujifilm X-T3.

Gallery

I’m sure you have seen the size of the gallery. It is a big one this week. Though, I didn’t do all the images or the different ones. There are still many left for another time. I hope you enjoy them.

  1. Beautiful macros Leanne! I think cameras just put themselves on JPEG to show us who’s the boss. I shot for a week in Kauai on JPEG and didn’t think to check why my SD card wasn’t overloaded!

    1. I think you could be right, though I suspect it happened when I had it cleaned. I know I wouldn’t have done it. That’s a shame, thankfully it was just one place for me and it looks like the images were okay. It is back to RAW now. Thank you Anne.

  2. I love the flowers with the dark background. Is this achieved in postprocessing or clever selection of your angles?

  3. Great flowers, Leanne! Do you always process your photos in Photoshop or use Lighroom sometimes?
Also, what prime lenses would you recommend for a Fuji for lifestyle photography?

    Thanks in advance,
    Svetlana

    1. Thank you Svetlana, I do both, I process some in Lightroom, these were done in there. Though most of my images I do with Photoshop.
I don’t really know enough about the prime lenses. I have used the 56mm which was gorgeous, but that’s it, sorry.

    2. Oh, one more question. There’s no brown color in Lightroom, so how do u achieve that effect? I hope in not asking too many questions πŸ˜ΆπŸ˜”

  4. I think it is a wise decision to keep the D850, Leanne. Having a camera dedicated to one lens sounds like smart thinking to me.
