Favourite Image Series – Another Tree on a Rock

Last week I showed you the tree on a rock from Binalong Bay and told you how I had gone there specifically to get that tree. I hadn’t thought anymore about trees on rocks after that, but then . . .

A couple of days later we were in Coles Bay to look around and on the first morning there my friend and I headed out to Tourville Lighthouse and lookout. It is part of the Freycinet National Park. It is a lovely part of Tasmania. We headed to the lookout for sunrise and we got a lovely one, which I will share with you tomorrow for Silent Sunday. Two of the images you may have seen before and 3 of them are new to the blog.

Once the sun was up, not that we really saw it because it was quite overcast we headed back. Then we saw this little place called Honeymoon Bay and we had to take a look.

As we were walking around I saw this tree and thought I should have a go and see what I could get. This is what I got.

I think this was my favourite image from the trip. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the one last week, but it was also a photo that lots of people used to take when the tree was still there. This one was a surprise and I had no idea there would be another tree on a rock at Honeymoon Bay. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone else do this shot. I’m sure people have, but the images aren’t everywhere.

I hope you like it as much as I do.

It is a long exposure and was a 2 minute exposure. It was taken with an ISO of 50 and the aperture was f10. I never know if those things help, but there you are. It was taken with a tripod and I used a ND filter, I can’t remember which, but it would have been either a 10 or 13 stop. I think I will go with the 13. I was using my D800 and I used the 24-70mm lens at the focal length of 28mm for the shot

Let me know if the technical stuff helps.

    1. Thank you Julie, yeah, 2 minutes. Haha, that’s okay, I just put it because for some reason people like it, no idea why.

  1. Lovely images (and I do like reading the about the camera settings).

I used to be pretty lazy and take most photos on similar settings in my cameras, so admittedly, I don’t know much about the best camera settings. It’s not until I download the days photography that I find out if I’ve got anything worth keeping or sharing.

    1. Thank you Vicki, okay, I will have to remember about that in the future.
I think the settings are something you have to make yourself think about. I find that easy, but the thing I am lazy with is stuff like changing lenses. I can be very lazy about doing that.
