Looking at old gear

The Fujifilm macro lens is going back this week and I have to get back to using my old gear for macro photography. One of the things that has been hanging around for a few years that I haven’t played with for a while is the Composer Pro from Lensbaby.

I have the original one, but I know there is a Composer Pro II now. (Just between you and me I’m getting that for Christmas for the Fujifilm camera.)

It was given to me by a company that was going out of business and they had quite a bit of Lensbaby lenses and they just posted them to me. So I got quite a bit, including the Composer Pro. You probably know that I have the Lensbaby Velvet 56. I have it for both the Nikon and the Fujifilm. However, I need the composer pro II so I can use it on the Fujifilm camera as well. There are lots of different lenses that you can put in it to play with.

I haven’t played with them for a while and I think part of that is because to take macro photos I needed to go somewhere. If I was going to travel I wanted to get the best shots and maybe not play so much.

I’m sure most of you know that I have been working on my garden. I’ve done a lot to make sure, one that I can grow things for us to eat, but also so there are lots of flowers in it for me to photograph. It makes it so much easier when you can just walk outside your house and have lots to take photos of. I love it. Who cares if I am out there in my pajamas, who will know?

I have a gallery for you of some photos I took with the Lensbaby Composer Pro and the Sweet 50 lens on my D850. They aren’t always sharp, but I like the effect. I definitely need to practice a lot more.

  1. Taking photos of my backyard garden in my pajamas is one of life’s best pleasures! My diagonal neighbors usually have a boozy brunch going on, so I feel like I’m at a wonderful party! Yay for your Christmas gift, Leanne!

    1. Oh yes, best pleasure. So much fun. That sounds great with your neighbours. Thank you, I can’t wait to get to use it.

    1. Thank you Merlin, I love it so much. I think you do pretty well, the insects are great. I just do some darkening in Photoshop. I process all my images.
