Monochrome Madness #29 – Chair/Chairs

Brian from Bushboy’s World is our host this week and he has chosen the theme CHAIR/CHAIRS. When he first told me that this is what he wanted to do, I thought, what chairs, I don’t have any. Then I got the idea that maybe I could cheat and do benches, like you find in the park. I was all set to do that, but wouldn’t you know it, I found some chairs.

I knew I had a couple, but no idea where to find them. So I started going through all my photos on my blog and then the strangest thing happened, I started finding more chairs. Actually, I found so many I had to make myself stop looking.

I did find one of the chairs that I knew I had but I couldn’t find the other one. It doesn’t matter, I’m more than happy with the ones I have.

All of them have been posted before except the first one. Though the others, most of them were in colour so I had to convert them to monochrome and have to say I think I like the mono more.

In the gallery I have tried to put a small description under each one to say what or where the images are. I hope that helps you.

I don’t really want to comment on all of them, but I do want to say something about one of them and that would be the King’s Chair in Parliament House in Victoria. Our government works the same way as the British system. We have an Upper House and a Lower House. The lower house is where the guys we elect go in Parliament. They are our members of parliament, like congressman in the US, if I have that right. The lower house is always green, whether that is state or federal. What that means is the King or Queen, whichever we have at the time, cannot enter the lower house. They are forbidden to go in there.

The upper house is always red, like the seats, carpet etc. The monarch is allowed in the upper house and there is a special chair there for them. The monarch is the only person who is allowed to sit in that chair. Also, the Upper house is for the Senators. They are the people that pass or deny what the lower house sends to them.

So there you go a little bit of information about the monarch and when they visit.

Thank you

I would like to thank Brian for being our host this week. A bit of a challenge for me, but I got there. Great one Brian.

Don’t forget to go and check out his post. If you do the theme put your links back to him.

We have decided that for the time being we are going to stick with 6 hosts for monochrome madness. That doesn’t mean we won’t welcome new hosts or one offs from time to time, but it has been hard for me to find people to do it, so we are going to stick with this for the time being. We will still only do the themes every 2 week for now. I like having the week to do what I like. I hope that works out okay for everyone.

I will be the host of the next theme, in two weeks.

Participating in Monochrome Madness

If you would like to participate in this challenge please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then we can all use the reader to see what you post.

You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to the host’s monochrome madness post in your post and it leaves a link in the comment section.

Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced and there is also all the information for participating. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.

  1. It has happened to me in the past that I thought I didn’t have any photos for a challenge only to discover that I had quite a lot! You unearthed such a varied selection 😀 Of course I recognised Bodie immediately ‘ that and the opening shot are my favourites I think.

    1. Hello Nia, of course I remember you. It has been a while. Thank you so much, glad you like them. You have a great day too.

  3. I knew you would find some chairs. Everyone has those “hidden chair” photos. I have lots of favourites Leanne, barbers chair (I have one I forgot about until I saw yours) The Official chairs are so good as well as well as the foyer chair.
I think we’ll be surprised at what people come up with

    1. I found a lot more chairs than I realised I had Brian. I was just saying to Ted, he thought it would be a very hard challenge and I said that I think the challenge was finding all the chair photos you don’t realise you actually have. 🤣😂🤣

Good theme Brian and good to hear which ones you liked. The barbers chair was one I had no idea I had, found it when I was looking for another chair. Thank you and thank you for being out host this week.

    1. Thank you Sandy, that was a funny find. I was looking in a folder of photos for something else and saw it. I have never processed it before, so it was perfect for this.

  4. This is a great collection of photos. I think the monochrome removes the distraction of colour and helps the eye focus in on the structural forms of each chair’s design.

    1. Thank you Laura. I totally agree, I couldn’t believe how some of them came up a lot better in monchrome than the colour ones. I need to explore this more.

    1. Yeah, I thought that too Ted, but then the challenge becomes realising how many chair photos you actually have without realising you had so many. I certainly didn’t think I would find this many, and in fact I found a lot more that I didn’t include. It was a good one I think. Thank you Ted.

  5. I knew you’d find some good ‘uns! I particularly like in monochrome the Chamber in Melbourne Town Hall. My post is alread to roll tomorrow, once Brian has published his and I can link it.

    1. Thank you Margaret, I did find some nice ones. Those chairs are part of the gold rush money, I think. Don’t think if they had to replace them now they would be that nice.
