Modes of Transport is an interesting challenge and opens it up to lots of things. I think this is a great idea for a theme from our host Dawn from The Day After. There are so many different modes of transport around the world and what people travel in.
Melbourne has lots of different ways to get around, and I have picked a few of them. There are boats, cars, trains, trams and bikes. There are other ways like planes, helicopters, and buses, but I didn’t include any of those.
Today I was asked how can you live in Melbourne without a driver’s licence, but it isn’t really that hard. The public transport is okay, and I’m sure other places in the world have it a lot better. As long as you have some patience and time everything right you will be fine.
I have put together a selection for you.
I want to thank Dawn for being out host this week. It is great theme and I have really enjoyed doing it. I can’t wait to see what everyone else does for it. Don’t forget to go and take a look at Dawn’s post, the link is at the start of the post.
Participating in Monochrome Madness
If you would like to participate in this challenge, please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then we can all use the reader to see what you post.
You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to the host’s monochrome madness post in your post, and it leaves a link in the comment section.
Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced and there is also all the information for participating. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.
These look great in monochrome, Leanne. The car in Melbourne looks so cool!
That car was amazing, it was in the art gallery. Thank you Siobhan.
Oh Leanne, you left out the most basic mode of transportation of all: shank’s mare! (Human legs)
But I don’t photograph people, so I couldn’t do that one, lol.
You have an impressive variety of modes of transportation, well done!
Thank you.
I always admire cyclists, so I’m gonna pick that pic in this post.
Good choice, they don’t get much respect here sadly. Thank you.
Nice shots, Leanne! I like the capture of the movement, especially with the cyclist!
Thank you PR.
Lots of movement in many of your shots, which I like. My vehicles were moving too in many cases – but slowly – not so’s you’d notice! https://margaret21.com/2025/06/25/getting-round-beamish-on-public-transport/
Thank you Margaret.
Wow Leanne. I like the ones where you included movement as well. I like the rowers on the Yarra
Thank you Brian, I like doing that with things moving, it can be challenging, but great when it works. The rowers, they are always on the river. They mess up many very still reflection images.
Love the tram and the blurry background
Thank you Teresa, I love panning.
The cruise liner at the top of your post is stunning. The deeper I fall into monochrome the more that colour seems overly dramatic – I might never come back from this. I’ll see what I can find for #monochromemadness modes of transport today.
Thank you Kate. I don’t think I could ever give up colour, but I like to experiment with monochrome too. I would love to see what you post for this.
Love the trains shots. A great method for travel, I’ve used it and enjoyed the trips in multiple places…except the US. We let them deteriorate terribly.
Thank you Ted. I love trains, oh that is horrible to hear about the trains in the US.
It’s all cars and trucks.
What a shame.
I love the mood of your images.
Thank you Dawn.
You’ve got some great examples here, Leanne. I would have been stuck if I hadn’t found a cache of photos from last year: I just don’t think to take photos of cars and buses and so on. Anyway, my post’ll appear tomorrow.
Thank you Margaret, that was lucky that you had some, I look forward to seeing them.
Your transportation images are great Leanne. We don’t have great rapid transit here. That’s why most of us drive. And because most of us drive, we have lousy transit.
Thank you Anne, it is funny because people here complain all the time about our public transport system. lol
Really like the rowers!
That’s great Sandy, they are on the river all the time. Thank you.
What a cool ship
It is, got to go on it as well.
how fun –
It was Beth and a tour of it. I only got to go on take photos and then left.
