Monochrome Madness #46 – Farm animals

This week our host is Elke from pictures imperfect blog, and she has decided to do FARM ANIMALS after her last theme being pets, she thought this would be a good carry on from it.

I wasn’t as convinced, as I don’t really photograph farm animals. Rarely, if ever. However, I did remember a couple of images I had.

This first one was taken at Eildon many years ago. It was funny, actually. We stopped to photograph the cows in the field. They were spread all around the paddock, but when they noticed us standing next to the fence, they gathered together and walked over to us.

It was really funny, and then the farmer rode his quad bike over to us. I think he was worried we were doing something wrong. When he realised we were just taking photos, he stopped for a chat.

Got a great shot and loved how it turned out.

This next one is a cow too, but obviously not a real one. It is one of the sculptures at Heide Museum of Modern Art in Heidelberg.

I have photographed these cows many times over the years. The last time I was there, I realised they weren’t in their usual place and I was worried they had got rid of them, but thankfully, they had just been moved.

When my girls were little, they used to love going there to see the cows.

That’s it from me, I’m afraid. I might have other farm animal photos, but none come to mind, and I have no idea where they would be.

Thank you to Elke for being our host this week. It would be so good if you could all go and take a look at her post too, the link is at the top of this post.

  1. Amazing how you got them to line up and pose for the camera. All but one who turned his back. Perhaps he was alarmed….. a bit of a cow-ard!

  2. I love this photo, Leanne! The cows look like a bunch of grumpy old men posing for their picture, so it really made me laugh!

    1. Oh yes, I didn’t realise you didn’t know Elke, I’m very close to it. There seems to be Heidelberg’s everywhere, though apparently during the second world war it was almost renamed to Warringal because of the German connection. Thank you Elke.

  3. That first shot’s great Leanne, and funnily enough I have a really similar shot that I almost used in my post. It’s strange – and unsettling – to be the subject of the curiosity of a large group of cows, isn’t it?

    1. Thankfully there was a fence between us, though I grew up around cows so they don’t scare me. They are curious creatures. Thank you Margaret.

    2. I never used to be afraid of cows, but there have ben a couple of really upsetting incidents involving cows in the last few years, and now I am thoroughly wary.

    3. You know Margaret if you go to those bull rushing things in Spain, it is no wonder you are scared of them now. I would be too. lol. 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
