Monochrome Wednesday – Coastline

Monochrome Wednesday - Coastline

When I was looking for some photos for today’s Monochrome Wednesday I went back to the images of the coastline I took when down at the Great Ocean Road.

Monochrome Wednesday – Coastline

The Great Ocean Road is a great place for photos. There are things to photograph everywhere. It can be rugged and it can be calm, depending on where you are.

I took so many photos that weekend. So many long exposures. It was perfect weather for them. A lot of other people may have not liked it, but I loved it. Clouds for days.

Once again I couldn’t decide on one image, so here are two.

12 Apostles

I’ve shown this image before, but it was in colour. I seem to really struggle with colour images from the 12 Apostles. Not sure why, perhaps it is me trying to be different, but the images end up too different. The monochrome version is different and maybe I will try more.

I used the image I had already processed and converted it to black and white. Some of the layers were deleted, ones that didn’t really work with it in monochrome. I’m also in love with soft tones and you may notice that this one has one.

Bay of Islands

This was a very new place for me and one I definitely want to go back and explore more. Unfortunately, it is a little too far to do in one day. Meaning driving from home to there. It really needs to be a stay overnight place for me.

It was gorgeous there. We first heard about it from the woman whose house we were staying in. She told us to look for the boat ramp. We did do that, but when we got there it started raining, so none of my photos worked out.

We went for a short walk and found ourselves looking down on the boat ramp and I took this image. It isn’t one I’ve done in colour, so no idea if it would be better. However, I do really like the monochrome version. Again, it has a soft tone over the top.

Both images are long exposures. They were taken with my Formatt Hitech ND Filters and my camera was given lots of support from Winston, my 3 Legged Thing tripod.

Joining in

It would be great if you would like to participate, especially if you enjoy the monochrome images. If you want to contribute there is a Facebook groupTPM Photos which you can join and share your images. Of course, if you are blogging no reason why you can’t post your own. I like this challenge and it is nice to be thinking in monochrome again.
