Monochrome Wednesday – Sunrise in the City

Monochrome Wednesday - Sunrise in the City

For Monochrome Wednesday I thought I would try converting a sunrise taken in the city a week or so back.

Monochrome Wednesday – Sunrise in the City

The city can be a great subject and one I’ve loved photographing for many years. Taking photos along the river is very popular. It is often where you find all the tourists. The City of Melbourne has spent a lot of money in the years since I first moved here to improve it and make it better. Now it is very popular with visitors and the locals. Also, very much so with photographers.

You do get some of the best photos of Melbourne from along the river. I love it along there and couldn’t count how many times I’ve taken photos there. Long exposures are what I love the most.

This is a long exposure taken with my Formatt Hitech Ultra Firecrest 10 stop filter and the 3 stop soft grad filter. I was using my new Fujifilm X-T3 with the XF10-24mm lens. I was using Billy for this, my 3 Legged Thing tripod. Oh yes, I was also using my new camera bag the MindShift PhotoCross 15 backpack.

Joining in

It would be great if you would like to participate, especially if you enjoy the monochrome images. If you want to contribute there is a Facebook groupTPM Photos which you can join and share your images. Of course, if you are blogging no reason why you can’t post your own. I like this challenge and it is nice to be thinking in monochrome again.

  1. Hadn’t realised you’d moved over to the x-t3, hope you are enjoying it. I’ve been using Fujifilm cameras for a while now and haven’t regretted the change from Nikon at all. Coincidentally I also use the Punks Billy tripod and up to recently had used the 10-24mm lend until it got a soaking by a wave and unfortunately it no longer works. Always enjoy your posts, thanks Leanne.

    1. Yes, it is fairly recent Paul. Fujifilm Australia sponsored me and gave the X-T3 and 10-24mm lens. I am loving it, so easy to use and move around. I love the Billy tripod, I used it all around New Zealand when I went. I also have the Winston, so I have choices, which I like. Sorry to hear what happened to your lens, I hope you had it insured. Thanks Paul.

    2. Great news about the sponsorship. Unfortunately my lens wasn’t insured but I did invest in the 16-55mm f2.8 as a replacement, not as wide but a degree of weatherproofing!

    3. Thank you Paul, it was a lovely surprise. Oh no, well I hope you have your gear insured now, so important. I love that lens, I want to get it as well, but still trying to decide. I might get it for myself for a Christmas present.
