One Four Challenge – Bits and pieces from one image Week 1

For the month of June, I thought I might do something a bit different. It is still one image and processed four different ways, but with a twist I think.

Before we get started, for those of you who are interested in what the One Four Challenge is, you can find out by going to thisΒ link for more information. Please take a look at Joanne’s post as well.

To begin, let’s have a look at the image I have chosen. This is the original and will be shown each week. It was taken recently down at Portsea and is what we call London Bridge, not to be confused with the one down along the Great Ocean Road, a different one. I don’t think it is as well known.

I did a little bit to this image, but just the basics.

The Original

You may have noticed that the image for this week doesn’t look like that. That is because this month I decided to pick one image and crop it four times to get 4 new images. Each week, I will show you that crop and what I did to it.

Week 1 Image

I am hoping that you can tell what part of the image it comes from, but if not, it is up the top left side, and the waves are breaking.

I might have cheated a little bit with this and just used a preset that I made in ON1 to finished this image.

I like the colours in this and like to think you could get this image at sunrise or sunset. However, not totally sure how the sun sets around there.

I’m not so keen on the noise in the image. I tried to get rid of it, but I couldn’t seem to. I think because it is such a small part of the original, it highlights it quite a bit.

This image, I don’t think, would work with the before and after, so let’s just do the gallery.

Here is the gallery that I will add to each week.

  1. Good picture, Leanne. I like your idea of dividing the original into sections and then editing each section. It’s an interesting spin on the idea of Variations. ON1 has an image upscaler – It may require an additional purchase. I use Gigapixel. Upscaling the image produces the larger image without the noise.

    1. Thank you Joanne. I hope it works out and guess will have to wait and see. I didn’t know that about ON1, though I wasn’t really that interested in doing it too much, not for this, but good to know.

  3. Hi Leanne πŸ™‚
I really like this idea of choosing parts of the image.. it’s a good one.. and I love the 1st image you’ve created from the original and the colours. I don’t think it’s cheating.. you created the preset afterall πŸ™‚
The noise gives it a ‘film’ look. Nice work!!

    1. Hey Robyn. I thought it might be a fun way to do it, though the images are not very big. Oh well. Thank you, glad to hear you like it. Yeah, I did create it.
I hadn’t thought of it like that, about the noise. thanks for that. πŸ˜€

    2. I think it works very well for the exercise of the challenge.. I love those tones. You are welcome Leanne πŸ˜€
