Reposting – USA Wanderings: Looking Around Central Park

Here is another one of the posts that I did while in the USA back in 2015. I remember this day, my feet were killing me from the day before.  Let’s take a look.

Yesterday I got to spend some more time with Stacy before she left New York for her home. I felt very lucky that I got to spend a second day with her. She also understood that my feet were not the best and whatever we did had to be easy, so we decided to take it easy and stroll around Central Park.

Of course most people have heard of Central Park, and I’m sure it gets lots and lots of visitors each year, but it was my first time there and I thought it was fantastic. There are so many different parts to it, and each one very different to the last.

As you can see we went to see the Alice in Wonderland sculpture. I was very surprised by how many people were climbing over it, apparently it is the way the artist wanted it, but it made it very hard to get photos.

We had coffee at the boat house which was nice. One thing that I’ve been trying to do is to find places that I know have been in movies that I have seen. One of those places is in Central Park, the Bow Bridge.

Beautiful bridge that was featured in the movie Highlander. I know it was made 30 years ago, but I love it and have watched it many times since then. I really wanted to find the bridge and take photos of it.

We went to the memorial for John Lennon and saw this.

We left the park at this point and headed out to find somewhere to eat for lunch before having to say good bye. It is so sad doing that. I will go home at the end of next week and I might never see her again, but I encouraged her to come to Australia to visit, I thought that would be really nice.

I shall leave you with more of the images I took in the Park.

  1. I remember the bridge, the lovely statue, I must have missed somehow when I was there. It was winter when I was there, and unseasonably warm – luckily. I get the sore feet. When you’re in New York, it seems like all you do is walk everywhere – until your feet give out.

    1. The statue was near some pond where people put little boats, toy ones in to sail. I think you are right, I spent most of my time with sore feet there. I did do a lot of walking. Thank you Marsha.

    2. A friend and I went for New Year’s Eve. We walked blocks and blocks in the middle of a crowd of 700,000. It was the scariest thing I ever did. There were people touching me on all four sides. If anyone missed a step it would have been all over for them.

    3. Great idea! When are you coming to the US again? Where shall we go? We have two places right now. We are renting a mobile home in Visalia, CA near where we used to live, and we still have our condo in Prescott, AZ. Both have lovely places to visit all around them.

    4. Haha, I’m not Marsha, my passport expires next month and I’m not renewing it. We have decided that there will be no more overseas trips for us. Thank you so much for the offer.

    5. Whaaaaaaaa? Noooooo! I do get it. It’s a 24 hour trip by the time you add stops. But I’m sad. Mine expires pretty soon. I will probably renew it, though – just in case! 🙂 xxxx

  2. These are beautiful photos! Central Park has so much to offer in its beauty and places to visit. I’d love to go back and visit again. I used to walk by there once a week in the early 2000s.

    1. I’m glad you were able to visit when you did! Central Park has its beauty and you took amazing pictures. I hope I get to visit in the near future and have my kids experience it too!

  3. Beautiful shots, Leanne! It’s a pity that I went there rather unprepared, i.e. photographing what I came across, instead of having prepared a list of not-to-miss spots! It is a great park..would love to go again 😀.

    1. I am lucky when I went that I was with someone that knew the park quite well, so I was lead around, it was fantastic. But lists are a great idea PR. Sorry you didn’t get what you wanted. Thank you.

    2. Ah it’s not that I didn’t get what I wanted, for I didn’t have the knowledge of what I “should want” 😀. I could get some nice pictures, despite being unprepared…

  4. Your images reflect the fun you had in NYC and your whole trip. As a kid, I lived in the Bronx for 10 years and never made it to Central Park!
