For today’s Silent Sunday post I have some more photos from my trip to the USA. These were taken on a trip to the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. It was a spectacular place to visit.

Silent Sunday – Henry Cowell Redwoods

Now, we have redwoods here. In a couple of places, but they are nothing like these. The ones you find here are nowhere near as big.  These blew my mind with how big their trunks were and how tall.

Don’t get me wrong, we have massive trees here, and you do see them on occasion, but not often. You certainly don’t see them in many places and not all together. We have a tree here called the Mountain Ash that grows extremely tall, and the trunks are thick as well.

My sister in law Kathy and two of her friends took us to the state park. We went for a walk around in it and afterward took a trip on the steam train there. The train was fun, but it was the actual forest and the trees that really grabbed my attention.

Taking photos

There was even one tree that had been carved out so up to four people could fit inside comfortably. I did try to take photos in it, but it was really dark in there. Even with a really high ISO I couldn’t get any good images. I probably needed a tripod, which I didn’t have with me.

One of the things that I really enjoyed doing was photographing the sun coming through the trees. It was great to see how it hit certain things or lit the trails. I often find it really hard to get what I see, though I keep trying.

Gallery

Here is a gallery of images for you. There are quite a few, and I hope you don’t mind.

The Flower and Garden show finished today and I have so many photos to start going through. I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
