Silent Sunday – San Francisco

Just over three years I was in San Francisco and it was incredible. I love the city and would love to go back one day to spend more time exploring. I thought for Silent Sunday it might be nice to take a look at some photos of my first day there.

Silent Sunday – San Francisco

These were taken on my first day there. I was surprised that I wasn’t really tired, though having slept for 12 hours the night before might have helped.

It was a great day to be there and seeing the Golden Gate Bridge was so incredible. Throughout the day we took photos of it from so many different places and directions. The fog or clouds just made it even more real for me.

We did try to get the sunset behind it, but it was a bit of a bust with it. Wouldn’t it be amazing to get a great sunset when you really want it? Like when you are travelling in another country and it is your only opportunity to get it.

Then in the evening we went to the Bay Bridge and did a few night shots of it. The one of that bridge is possibly one of my favourite images from that day.

Here are six of the best image, I think, from that day. Five are from my time around the Golden Gate Bridge and the other is the Bay Bridge. I hope you agree with me that the last photo is the best one.

It would be nice to do more images there one day, but I don’t know that that is likely to ever happen. I am starting to wonder if travelling is a responsible thing to do. I know I have a trip to New Zealand in about six weeks, but I think it might be my last trip overseas. I am planning a post on this topic for the near future.

I hope your weekend is going well.

    1. Thank you Ian, that is great to hear. I’m going to do a post very soon about why no more travel, so you will see in that. I think I will fall in love and not want to leave NZ.

  2. Your work is always stunning.SF has been our place for food and photos. I’m still trying to duplicate your tinting process.

    1. Thank you Bob, that is lovely of you to say. I had my first real cheeseburger there in a 50’s style diner, it was fantastic. You should develop your own Bob, see how you go. Though I haven’t really don’t anything much these photos. They were all done in Lightroom.

  3. Great images, and brought back some good memories. I went to SF in 1993, can’t believe it was that long ago. Yes really like the last image.

  4. I lived in the SF Bay Area for twenty years. SF and northern CA are so wonderful. I miss it terribly. But, yeah, good old SF fog messing up sunsets. 🙂 Agree the last photo is the most stunning, but for me the others bring back more nostalgia.

    1. I would love to have explored SF a lot more, but time was against me. I’m glad you like them, it is an amazing bridge. I don’t think you really understand how big it is until you actually see it in person. Thank you
