Life has been getting in the way this week a bit, but I guess if you neglect some things, then everything ends up catching up. The plumbing has demanded some attention this week, the joys of owning a house. Anyway enough about me, let’s get on with Monochrome Madness.

The next theme, which is just for the first week of December is Square, but could be rectangle as well.

I’m going to do it a little differently this week, finish with mine.

I was challenged to do a Black and White image on Instagram, so I decided to use this image for it. There was some great contrast in it and the wonky pier stood out.

Monochrome Madness each week and if you wish to participate and submit an image here is how you do it:-

  • You must email me the image you want to include and if you have a blog or website, or somewhere else, please include the link. My email address is leanne@leannecole.com.au
  • The image size should be low res, so the largest side should be 1000 pixels or less.
  • Please insert either your name or your blogs name in the file name.
  • Remember I am on Australian time, so with GMT I am +11 hours at the moment, I publish my post on Thursday morning.
  • If you need more help with sending images, and get confused about time zones, etc, well, there is a great website called The World Clock, if you go to that and look at Melbourne time, if it’s before 6pm on Tuesday evening, then you can still send me images.  If it’s after that time, you can send me an image, but it will be set aside for the following week.
  • Remember to include a link to your blog or website.
  • Please remember to resize your images, it is fairly simply, you just need to go into any editing software and usually under Image you will find, resize, scale, or image size, something like that and you can resize your image there. Change the dimensions to pixels and make the longest side 1000 pixels or smaller, hit return, and for most types of software that should change the other side automatically as well. Just remember to save it with a different name so you know it is the smaller version.  If you have any problems, please contact me, I don’t mind helping out.

Please note you don’t have to be a WordPress blogger to be in this challenge, you can have a link to a Facebook page, a Flickr page, anywhere really, or no link.  We just want to encourage people to do monochrome images, just for the madness of it. Just to let you know also, that as soon as the challenge is published, all emails and images you have sent me are deleted from my computer.

This is the last Monochrome Madness for this month which means the one next week will be the theme. As previously stated the them is Travel, and is completely up to you, your interpretation.

REMEMBER: If you would like to join us the instructions are at the bottom of the post.

This photo should be familiar to many of  you, well to those that looked at the previous post. I had it on Instagram earlier this week, but it was in colour and I decided to try it in monochrome. I wanted to put the golden glow over it as it was around sunset.

Don’t forget all the instructions on how to enter your own images are at the bottom of the post.  If you have entered an image then please remember to check your image in the gallery, scroll down and see if anyone has left you any comments.

Please note this post had been scheduled and should have published 5 hours again, but WP missed it. No idea how.

The weeks roll on, and we are over half way though the third year of MM. It certainly isn’t the same as it was in the beginning and we don’t get the numbers we used to, but, can I say, I really don’t mind. I do find this quite easy to manage, and that is good. Shall we get on with it then?

The next theme is going to be Travel. Your interpretation. See if you can do something different, that is my challenge to you. The theme is for the first MM in November only.

REMEMBER: If you would like to join us the instructions are at the bottom of the post.

lancefield-storm-approaching-monochrome

If I were going to give mine a title I would call it storm approaching. About 10 to 15 minutes after this it started raining and we left the town. This is the main street of a small town called Lancefield. It is amazing what you find in these towns to take photos of. I will be going back there.

It is a bit late today, I am sorry. I’m having trouble with one of the plugins with this site. The publicize plugin isn’t doing what it is meant to do and when I do a post it doesn’t sent emails, or send the post to Facebook or to other places. I was hoping to get an update, but so far nothing from Jetpack. I will have to do all the work for it again. Anyway, here is the post.

The next theme is going to be Travel. Your interpretation. See if you can do something different, that is my challenge to you. The theme is for the first MM in November only.

Some of you may recognise this image, though it is different. I also did this in colour and have put that one on Instagram today. It looked like an image that would also work in monochrome. There was a lovely pink in the sky and I tried to give it that feel as well.

This week really snuck up on me, so I almost forgot all about the post, but I did remember.

The next Theme is next week, cats or dogs, or pets really.

Things seem to be going in slow motion around here and I’m very late with this post. I was up late last night getting some other work done.  The book is taking quite a bit of my time. I’m trying to get it done now, I hope you don’t mind. Also, since you liked how the post was done last week, I’m going to do the same this week. Now, if you click on an image you will still get a gallery type look at the images.

Reminder: the next theme, Pets is in two weeks.

alfred-nicholas-bridge-lensbaby-velvet56

I took the Lensbaby Velvet 56 to the Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens the other day for a bit of a spin. I am liking how the softness can really add to some scenes. It gives the images a painterly effect. This is one of the many bridges that are there.

Some funny stuff has happened this week. Well, really the gallery I normally use for this post is disrupting everything. They updated the plugin and now, well it won’t let you read the posts. I’m sure some of you experienced it at the end of the last week. They have fixed it, but I can’t get the update, so we are going to do it differently this week. There aren’t a lot of images, so it should work okay.

statelibrary-victoria-melbourne-monochrome

It has been raining so much in Melbourne this last week or so and yesterday I was in the city to take photos, so everything had to be done inside. We went to the State Library of Victoria and went around the stacks taking photos. When I worked there only staff were allowed in the stacks. Now all the books are gone and anyone can go up there. It is a great place for the wide angle. Would be fun to try it with the fisheye.

It is another small selection this week. It must be the time of the year, everyone is very busy. I know I am. Things have been crazy for me.  I am sure you will still enjoy this selection.

I do believe that next week is the theme, Road, next Thursday is the 1st of September.

On Tuesday I went to Trentham Falls. We climbed right down from the top. We started up a lot higher than the waterfall. It was a scary climb, very slippery and wet. A lot of water flowing at the moment, but my legs now are so sore. I don’t think I will climb down there again in a hurry.

This was taken at Alowyn Gardens the other day. I was playing with the Lensbaby, but most of the shots I got were not great as the sun was out and it was too bright. I managed to get this one however, and I thought it came out well.
