Weekend Wanderings: Around City Streets at Night

The other night I spent the evening in the city walking around the lanes taking some night shots. It was nice to be back in the city talking photos.

The lanes are so different at night and they give you a much different look. Though all the people around the city gets a bit annoying. The city is such a busier place these days than it was a few years ago. We managed to get some shots. Oh yes, I was with a friend.

I’m just going to leave you with the images. I hope you are having a good weekend.

  1. Beautiful images all round, Leanne. You are right. Melbourne looks different at night. There’s a bit of a haunting feel in these shots, and I think it’s because there isn’t anyone in them. Love the Light in Winter shot. That ball of light looks amazing and stands out in the dark. Hope to check it out myself at some point this winter. It is shaping up to be a cold one, and I suppose I will have to rug up to take night shots 😀 Have a good week ahead 🙂

    1. Thank you Mabel. I love it at night, the long exposures help get rid of the people, though many images were still ruined because of them. It was nice how all lit up Fed Square was, I like what they have done to the buildings as well. It has got quite cold, it wasn’t cold the night we were walking around, thankfully, it was really warm, well I was warm, my friend thought it was cold. You have a good one too. 😀

    1. Thank you Julie, I know it always seems so crowded, I can remember times where you could go in and hardly see anyone, not know.

  2. Melburnians tend to forget how beautiful our city can be. Thank you Leanne.

  3. This is an amazing collection of night photos. What is the secret of capturing such images with so much clarity and beauty in the dark? How about sharing some technical data, Leanne?

    1. Thank you so much Peter. Well, I’m giving away any secrets now, but I have written an article for dPS on night photography, I share them there, I will let you know when it is published.

    1. I love it too, I love the results, the camera picks up so much more than what you can see. That’s great that you like the red, I wasn’t so sure myself, good to hear. Thank you.
