Weekend Wanderings – Docklands through a fisheye

photo challenge 1 - Bridge

It has been one of those weeks, so I thought for Weekend Wanderings I would repost the one I did of Docklands through a fisheye. Sometimes it is hard to get out.

Weekend Wanderings – Docklands through a fisheye

This is from the original post.

The other night I went into the city to take some photos of the Bolte Bridge. I had wanted to do the sunset there. I met my friend Chris and we made our way to the base of it. On the way I put the Samyang 12mm fisheye on and took lots of photos with it.

I have been writing a review on the lens and that has been a great excuse to get out and try it out. It is such an interesting way of seeing the world. I think you will again.

Here is a gallery of images. I hope your weekend is going well. Here it has been raining on and off all day, also been very cold. Apparently summer isn’t quite ready to arrive yet, I’m complaining mind you.

Looking back

This fisheye lens is a very different lens. It is a great one for changing the way you see the world. I love it for distorting everything. Finding curves and bending them even more.

If you put your mind to it you can do some amazing things with it. However, I think a lot of people think you should be able to use it and make the world as it is. Get rid of those weird curves. I say go with them. Find buildings where you can exaggerate their lines even more.

It is fascinating to try to see what you can do with horizons as well. It is one of those lenses to have fun with.

Fisheye Lens

I have the Samyang 12mm Fisheye, but I also have some Struman Optics Fisheye lenses for my phone. They are a great and much cheaper way to see if you like using one. They are also good to just chuck in your pocket and bag. When you see something you like you can just put it on and go for it.

Gallery

As stated above I spent a day at Docklands taking some photos with it and I have a gallery here for you.

  1. Wow shots Leanne, right outside the square! I’ve never tried one.

    1. It is a lot of fun, and I think as long as you aren’t trying to capture the world the same as other lenses you will be fun. Thank you.

  2. I have never been a fan of fish eye lenses. Can never get what I “see” into a photo. You have convinced me to have a few more attempts. My bestie gave me a fish eye that goes onto my phone camera so maybe fool around with that.

    1. Yeah, I think if you think you will get what you can see, then you will be disappointed. Best to think that you will get something very different and be prepared to be surprised. Give it a go.
