MM 3-3: Monochrome Madness

Here we are in our new home with MM 3-3 and it is nice to finally have Monochrome Madness here. Things are going to be different as this is a self hosted blog, things work differently. You won’t be able to leave individual messages on the photos, but I would recommend leaving a message and starting it with the number of the photo so the person will know you mean it for them.

We also have our theme next week, city. I hope you have been working on your images for it, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you all send in to me.

I went to Sovereign Hill yesterday and I spent quite a bit of time trying to photograph this guy as he was working. More on this place later in the week.

Monochrome Madness each week and if you wish to participate and submit an image here is how you do it:-

  • You must email me the image you want to include and if you have a blog or website, or somewhere else, please include the link. My email address is leanne@leannecole.com.au
  • The image size should be low res, so the largest side should be 1000 pixels or less.
  • Please insert either your name or your blogs name in the file name.
  • Remember I am on Australian time, so with GMT I am +11 hours at the moment, I publish my post on Wednesday morning.
  • If you need more help with sending images, and get confused about time zones, etc, well, there is a great website called The World Clock, if you go to that and look at Melbourne time, if it’s before 6pm on Tuesday evening, then you can still send me images.  If it’s after that time, you can send me an image, but it will be set aside for the following week.
  • Remember to include a link to your blog or website.
  • Please remember to resize your images, it is fairly simply, you just need to go into any editing software and usually under Image you will find, resize, scale, or image size, something like that and you can resize your image there. Change the dimensions to pixels and make the longest side 1000 pixels or smaller, hit return, and for most types of software that should change the other side automatically as well. Just remember to save it with a different name so you know it is the smaller version.  If you have any problems, please contact me, I don’t mind helping out.

Please note you don’t have to be a WordPress blogger to be in this challenge, you can have a link to a Facebook page, a Flickr page, anywhere really, or no link.  We just want to encourage people to do monochrome images, just for the madness of it. Just to let you know also, that as soon as the challenge is published, all emails and images you have sent me are deleted from my computer.

  1. Splendid submissions like always, Leanne! It’s difficult to choose just one (or even just a few) as favorite! 🙂

And I love the look of this gallery — so much better than the WP dot com one! You seem to have had a tiny adventure getting it to work, but I guess it was worth it…? 🙂

    1. That’s great to hear Anita.

Thank you, it has been good to get some good feedback, always a worry when you change things. I did, but got it sorted in the end. I think so, nice to have everyone here on my self hosted site. 😀

  2. Well today I can see the gallery – which is a good thing! Yesterday it was not the case. The shots do show nicer with this new format – cleaner and easy to view. I will also say there are some great shots here – #3, 24, 25 as well as your shot really catch my eye.

    1. That is good news Debby, I don’t know what happened yesterday, but will have to take more notice next time. It has been good to hear from so many to say that they like the new format. I’m sure those people will love to hear that. Thanks

  3. A wonderful gallery this week, with some stand out images!
Love your image Leanne and great work to everyone.

  4. All good now Leanne!! I see it wasn’t just me! Numbers 1, 10, 24, 28, stand out for me this week and of course 26 😀 but really they are all worth a second look. Each time I looked a different one popped for me hmm 20, 25 argghh so all fabulous.

    1. No, you aren’t, but you can’t comment on each one, I think I explained at the start that you would need to leave comments in the general section, just give the number of the photo and then leave your comment and I will just approve it. One of the downsides to the gallery here.

    2. Oops – should have read the first paragraph instead of going straight to the images! Not so sure people will bother leaving comments about individual photos though, especially where there is not a post for MM on their website if they go there.

    3. Maybe no, we will see, not much I can do about it, there is no way to have a gallery here where people can leave comments on individual photos. Hopefully people will.
Yeah, easy to miss the first part, I’ve noticed that people don’t tend to read it.

    1. That’s great news, and thanks for the feedback, it doesn’t show the same, I couldn’t do it the same, so I hoped this would work. There are.

  5. love the misty foggy marsh! and I thought the man working on those machines especially fine work!!! 🙂 loved them

  6. Hi Leanne, I’m having trouble seeing the gallery – do you need to go to each individual’s blog now to see the images (via the link list) with it being self hosted? Or am I being daft?!

    1. No, you should see a gallery, this is all new and I’m using a new plugin and somehow the gallery disappeared, but hopefully you can see it now.

    2. Yes, all good thanks – great entries as usual. It also said I was the first to comment, which clearly I wasn’t. Sorry you ended up having to repeat yourself!

    3. Oh that is great Haylee, no worries, that is the problem with moderating comments, that can happen, and it doesn’t matter, we got there in the end.

  7. Hi Leanne, I can’t see the gallery. Don’t know if it’s just me or something else. But thought i’d mention it 🙂

Love the image by Michelle.. really great atmosphere to it!

    1. No, not just you, I’m using a new plugin and somehow the gallery wasn’t saved or deleted, any hopefully you can see it now.

    1. Oh I do, it’s weird because it is there in the preview, but once it was published I couldn’t find any trace of it, so had to do it again, hopefully this one will stay put.

    2. It is, but I guess you have to expect some problems when you start self hosting, hopefully this one won’t happen again.

Thank you Melinda, it is good to hear, I enjoy it as well.
