I’m enjoying finally getting around to working on these photos. This week I have done a few of the photos I took at Bell Street Station in Preston.
The first photo you see in the gallery is where the level crossing was. It was a shocker and I got caught there many times. It is so much nicer now that the tracks are above the road. Not so sure about the pink pylons, but what can you do.
This station I think is a little boring compared to the others. It is still different, but out of the ones I’ve shown you so far I think I like this one the least. Maybe it was because it was wet when we went and you didn’t really get to see its beauty. I don’t know.
One thing you may notice with this one is that there is an indoor shot. We went inside to see what it looked like. What do you think?
Here is a gallery of 4 images to take a look at. So click on the first and then you can scroll through them.
Wow, a very striking building……. in order to eradicate a level-crossing. Here in Lima there aren’t even gates on the level crossing. The slow moving trains just hoot. Glad i am not deaf!!!!!
It is Geoff, yep, they removed over 50 level crossings, but not all stations were near them, so only some were replaced. I think 48 new stations were built. Hahaha, our trains are so slow moving. Thank you Geoff.
Love the last one!
Thank you Sofia.
Having scrolled the photos, I see what you mean about pink pylons! Wowzers. What strikes me about these stations, like the Skytrain stations here in Vancouver, is the “open-air” quality of the architecture. Such a contrast to the firmly enclosed stations in Toronto and Montreal, built to protect people from winter weather. (Or… do yours need to protect you from summer heat?)
Wowzers, great word Penny. They aren’t all open, there is cover in some, it does rain a bit here. Though we all know to always bring an umbrella with us. I think most people are okay in the heat, most people are only staying on the platforms in the morning, mostly. Thanks Penny.
I cantinue to b a impressed
Thank you.
Nice architectural images!
Thank you Joanne.
lei the design
It is great isn’t it?
A far cry from our stations. They are getting a bit worn and tired.
Yeah, we have lots of those too, the only stations that got replaced were the ones that were right next to a level crossing, so they had to build a new station and raise it up.
Pink!! I think it is pretty fantastic, Leanne. Maybe because we have nothing like that here. It is fascinating!
Maybe, though I think they will have trouble keeping it a good colour with the graffiti keeps getting sprayed it. Really, nothing like these, that is sort of sad. Thank you Lois.
Yep, that’s pink! What were they thinking? I like the station’s architecture, but pink happens to be my least favorite color. Will there be more stations? I like this series.
Yep pretty much what I was thinking Anne, very strange colour for it. I have 3 others I haven’t worked on yet, but I hope to get out to more soon to photograph. Thank you.
I continue to be impressed. And I like your head-on interior shot.
Thank you Margaret. I liked that interior shot too, hard to get though, they are never quite as perfect as you would like.
I kind of like the pink, but then I like that color. It does kind of match that one image from the inside – there’s pink there too.
Then that makes sense Donna, I don’t like pink. I was devastated when my eldest daughter loved it. Yeah maybe, thank you Donna.
