Lens-Artists Challenge #319 – Setting a Mood

Our host this week is Ann-Christine from the blog Leya and she is asking us to set a mood. At first glance I thought, ohh I can do this one. Isn’t this what my photos are all about?

But then I started to worry that maybe I didn’t really know if I had it. I decided to do some searching on the internet and I found this:-

to set the mood: to create the ambience, the atmosphere idiom

Once I saw the word atmosphere I thought yeah, I can do this. People often say my photos have lots of atmosphere, so I just needed to find some of those.

I have a lot of these images, so I had to work out what to use. Obviously, I couldn’t put hundreds. Well maybe I don’t have that many, then again I might. In the end what I decided to do was go through my Instagram account and pick photos that I hope I haven’t shown recently. I think you know that all my photos have been shown before.

It was a nice thing to do, I found some photos that I had forgotten all about.

Here is a gallery with my Setting a Mood photos. Click on an image to get a larger view and then you can click through them.

It was again hard to work out when to stop. Most of these images were taken in and around Melbourne. A couple were taken out in other places, but they are all from Victoria.

I want to thank Ann-Christine for being our host for the Lens-Artists Challenge this week. I think it was a good one. Please go and take a look at her post too, the link is at the start of this post.

  1. I’m surprised that you doubted yourself, Leanne. Your photography always sets a mood and you do it like no one else. You did it again with this post, it’s impossible to pick a favourite.

    1. Hi Leanne
why are moody pictures mostly dark? Do we associate mood only with darkness or mist?
      Thanks for sharing your pictures

    2. I don’t think everyone else feels that way, many of the photos from other people are not dark. I just love the dark look, I have always liked it. Thank you.

  2. I had been so anxious to see your take on this challenge. My eyes did not get enough. You create moody scenes beautifully!

    1. Oh, I am glad that I didn’t disappoint you Egidio, I hope anyway. I do love creating images like this, my favourite kind. Thank you.

  3. I loved your conversation with yourself at the beginning of your post this week Leanne 😊. All of your images have their own mood and your interpretation is spot on. Well done!
