Lens-Artists Challenge #326 – This Made Me Smile

eureka-skydeck-sunrise-melbourne-australia

Interesting choice this week from Ann-Christine as she thinks we all need to smile. I don’t disagree, especially with all the uncertainty in the world right now, but I didn’t know how to show photos like that. I often smile with my photography, but then I realised that there is one type of photography that really gets me.

So if you want to learn more about this post then please visit Ann-Christine at her blog Leya. I often don’t follow exactly what I am meant to do, so best to go and see what she suggests.

I was trying to think of those times when I am out taking photos and I can’t get the smile off my face. It happens from time to time when I get really excited, but I have to admit there is one time when it absolutely happens. and that is at sunrise.

There is nothing more disappointing than waking up really early to go and photograph the sunrise and there is nothing, almost no colour. For me that happens more often than not. So imagine how excited I get when I go the extra effort and get out and I’m greeted with the most glorious sunrise. It makes my day and I smile for the rest of it. It fills me with so much joy.

Here is a selection of some of those sunrises, I hope they put a smile on your face too.

Thank you Ann-Christine for helping me to remember some of my best photography moments, it certainly made me smile wide as I looked back.

Please take a look at her post. I have put the link at the start of this post.

  1. Ahh….such beauty, Leanne. I can see why you smile all day long when you capture those stunning moments. (And I admire you for getting up early to witness them!)

  2. This reminds me of the Japanese term, Ma. Sunsets and sunrises remind me of those neutral moments in my day that bring me into the present. I love them. Beautiful photo

  3. Glorious morning smiles, Leanne! Love your Melbourne ones, but this time Mother Nature made me smile for the whole afternoon. Yes, we all need smiles in these tough times, and heading out early mornings is one of the best things we can do. The silence and the light. You are so good at capturing it all.

    1. That’s great Ann-Christine. We do, and I think there are going to be a lot of tough times ahead. Thank you so much and also thank you for being our host this week.

  4. Some gloriously rich colours in these sunrises Leanne, guaranteed to start your day with a smile 🙂 But my favourite by some way is also the most muted, number four in your gallery ‘wanaka-sunrise-tree-newzealand-longexposure’ – it’s just stunning!

    1. Absolutely Sarah, have to love it. Your favourite is one of my absolute favourites from Wanaka, I was on a high that morning. Thank you.

  5. I absolutely agree with you about sunrises Leanne although i HATE getting up for them. Hence my feeling is that God knows when I make the effort He or She had better deliver! And so far so good! Loved all of yours but am partial to the images of nature at sunrise which are truly glorious.

    1. I don’t mind, I get up early most days, so it is okay, though having to get up and drive for a couple of hours can be a pain. Thank you so much Tina, good to hear you have good luck getting them.

  6. I love sunrises too. Your sunrises are so vibrant. On the rare occasions I have seen sunrise in England they are mostly pale pink and lemon. A beautiful collection.

    1. Thank you so much RJ, glad to see you like them too. We get great colours here, could be the heat or something, I don’t knw.

  7. I know the feeling when the light is just right (and I’ve gotten up early enough to enjoy it!) Your collection of glorious skies makes me want to explore the light at the extremes of the day!

  8. A sunrise photo walk is certain to be one of smiles … and smiles coming home with your treasure box – camera – filled with excited-colored hope. Amazing shades of reds, yellows, purples, and oranges.

  9. Very beautiful photography, Leanne!! Wonderful locations too. ❤️ I follow a guy named Tone at Tasview, he is in Tasmania, maybe you follow him too.
