Looking back at Rippon Lea

It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years since I was last at Rippon Lea. It is a beautiful place to visit and I think I need to go back soon.

Rippon Lea is one of those places that was once a beautiful home and is now more a display place where people can visit the gardens and do tours inside. People have weddings there and that is part of the reason that made me think of it again. My daughter went to a wedding there recently.

That is a quick introduction and here are some photos that were taken a long time ago, but I feel the need to plan another trip. Hopefully that will happen soon.

    1. Their homes were great too, love Mark Twain’s house. Are you able to go inside it Ted? I agree, Rippon Lea is beautiful.

    2. I searched it more and saw photos of it inside, it is beautiful, not like the places that people live in today. YOu are lucky that you could visit.

    3. That’s not good to hear Ted, but good that there was some good there. Great museums can make up a lot, but maybe not for everything. lol

  1. Dear Leanne
we find it superficial with a touch of Hollywood. A similar village is Portmeirion/Wales we prefer. It’s more self-ironic.
Thanks for sharing your fine pics

    1. Not sure what you mean. The house was built about 100 years ago and was a home until the 60’s I think. It has beautiful gardens around it. Not many places like that here.

    2. For our taste the style is too pretentious. But maybe we are spoilt as we have lots of big country houses with beautiful gardens around here.

    3. I looked it up and the house was built in 1868, that was a time when Victoria was very rich from the gold fields. Pretentious I think was the name of the game, all those houses, big country ones were all built to impress.

  2. that would be such a wonderful place for a reception. imagine when that was someone’s home –

    1. They have kept the inside as if it is a home, so when you tour inside you can see how they lived. It is really nice. I think they have built as extra part for the receptions.
