Monochrome Madness #24 – The best from your year

First of all I just want to say Happy New Year to everyone. Can’t believe we are a quarter of the way through this century already.

Since this is the  last one for the year, so to speak, I’m your host and I decided that it would be really nice to look back at some of mine/your favourite Monochrome Madness images for the year.

I have gone through all my posts for the year and decided to only pick photos that I took this year, all but one of them anyway.

It has been an interesting year for me. I think most of my photos were taken in my garden and my macro got a lot of use. I don’t see that changing in 2025. I really love macro and am constantly looking for new flowers for the garden to photograph. Though I think in the year ahead I want to set up a lot more images and do more still life type photos too. So I hope to be sharing lots of those with you too.

Getting the new Infared camera has also been amazing. I’m enjoying using it for many types of photography.

So here is my selection. They were all from Monochrome Madness posts from the past year.

Because I took the extra week off it meant that my Monochrome Madness post is a week late. So next week Dawn will be hosting Monochrome Madness #25 and she wants us to look at PLACES OF WORSHIP. I think that sounds like a great theme.

Participating in Monochrome Madness

If you would like to participate in this challenge please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then I can use the reader to see what you post.

You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to my monochrome madness post in your post and it leaves a link in the comment section.

Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced and there is also all the information for participating. We have also included a list of themes that will be coming in the future so if you want to be able to plan ahead you can. They aren’t in order, but will happen. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.

Also if you would like to host one week or more, let me know.

  1. Happy New Year, Leanne 🙂. Although I have a monochrome image for today’s post and it was taken before 2025, but I had something else on my mind. So I couldn’t follow the theme.

  2. Hi Leanne. These are all so beautiful! I haven’t been on WordPress much over the last couple of months. But, now I remember how much I have missed.

I especially love the photo of the old broken building. In monochrome it’s just timeless. And the lighthouse with the clouds is so powerful. The lighting just looks like a really terrible storm is coming soon.

I have been really struggling with depression after our election. I am so concerned not just about the future of the US, but for the whole world. And have been just shocked that the American people could elect a criminal and think any good will come of it.

Anyway, sorry for the depressing news, but I do love your work, especially the monochrome. You are every bit as good as Ansel Adams. Hope your New Year is wonderful!

    1. I’ve missed seeing you here too. I get the depression though, the world is going down a dark path and it scares me. I keep saying to my husband that I am glad I more towards the end of my life. I feel for the young. I’m sorry to hear you have been struggling and I hope you are getting help for it.
I know what you mean about the election, it is unbelievable that he was elected again. YOu do have to wonder.
No need to apologise, I really get it.
Thank you so much, though not sure I’m that good, but nice that you think so. YOu take care of you and I hope you still have a good year.

  3. What a great year of shooting monochromes, Leanne. You have such a great sense of composition and a fine touch with editing. Wishing you a fantastic year ahead! 🌟

    1. Thank you Jane, I think the more I do it, the more I like. That is really nice of you to say. I hope you have a great year too.

  4. Happy New Year. Lots of photos from different perspectives this year providing lots to learning and much to appreciate. What have you got in store for us in 2025?

    1. Thank you Geoff. I don’t know about the year ahead, I have some plans, but still working on them. Happy new year to you too.

  5. A great retrospective. I’m envious of your infrared trees – we’re having beautiful looking hoarfrost at the moment and as nice as that photographs in close up, I just couldn’t get a the whole forest look good. I’ll play around in post production but without much hope. Have a great 2025! (Are you there yet on the other side of the world? I think so.)

  6. Stunning review, Leanne!

Wishing you and yours a wonderful 2025
