My turn again and I did struggle trying to work out what challenge to do. Then I saw the word Woods, and I thought well I can’t do that because we don’t have woods in Australia. We do sort of, but what most countries call woods we call the bush, or bushland. I don’t know if you have heard that we have bushfires, not wildfires. Same thing, but we call them something else.
Then I thought I know, lets do WOODS, RAINFORESTS AND BUSHLAND. Should include most things like this.
I knew I wouldn’t have any trouble finding images as I have photographed many rainforests and a lot of bushland. It turned out the problem was I have too many and I didn’t know when to stop. I managed after 14, so I hope you don’t mind lots.
We have done trees before in this challenge, but this time I wanted to see trees in a specific setting, hence the name of the challenge. Show us your walks in nature surrounded by trees.
Here are mine.
I hope you enjoyed these rainforests and bushland. I did include a couple of infrared shots, I had to. I do love how they come out.
Our next theme week is in two weeks and Elke from pictures imperfect blog will be our host, I look forward to seeing what she has in store for us.

You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to the host’s monochrome madness post in your post and it leaves a link in the comment section.

This is one of my favorite topics when it comes to outdoors: forests. Here’s my entry:

That’s good to hear Egidio.
Very atmospheric shots Leanne, and a great theme. I especially love your infrared images, they have a rather spooky feel to them.
I drafted my contribution before coming away but I think it fits the bill: https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/gallery-i-cant-see-the-woods-for-the-trees/
Thank you Sarah, yeah I thought the infrared ones were the best.
Fabulous subject and beautiful photos.
Thank you Rebecca.
Beautiful shots, Leanne!
Thank you Sofia.

I’d love to take a walk through those bushlands! Beautiful.
Bushlands sound so cool.
Thank you Esther, they are great places for walks, well except in summer, too many snakes.
Oh yikes…stay away from those snakes!
Oh I will, most definitely.
Scenes in the bush come out so well in monochrome. These are so good Leanne.
I am still working on mine and will post later
They seem to, it was great to see how they looked. Thank you Brian.
I look forward to seeing what you post.
This was interesting. When I first looked at it, I thought these explosive clouds were coming through the trees. Then zoomed it and really it’s the leaves of this particular tree/bush, right!
Thank you, I think they are more bushes in the background.
Stunning play with light and shadow, Leanne. I used photos from this weekend. Much more wood than I anticipated (explanation in the post): https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2025/05/27/a-woodsy-encounter/
Thank you Elke, I look forward to seeing what you posted.
A beautiful gallery, Leanne, and great challenge.
Thank you Egidio, glad you liked it.
wow, they look kind of magical in black and white
It was surprising to see the results, thank you Beth.
This is truly an incredible series, Leanne!
It reaffirms the fact that monochrome conveys the mood much better than colour images.
The cover image really pulls us into it…
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much Sreejith, that cover image is infrared and I think that makes a big difference.
I enjoyed seeing your bushland and rainforests. We have nothing like that here!
I don’t know if that is sad or not Sandy, we are lucky to have it all here and some of it is very close. Thank you.
Beautiful as always, Leanne. I do love that first image.
Thank you Dawn, I think that one is a favourite.
Brilliant! Your feature photograph could be a painting in the English Naturalist school. It’s a wonderful image; I’d hang it.
Thank you Joanne, I think the header shot is my favourite.
so beautiful dea Leanne, Thank you, Love, nia
Thank you so much Nia.
These are moody , l really liked the 5, 7 and 14 images, maybe cause they were more light.
Thank you Ritva, you like all the infrared images.
some great images, Leanne!
Thank you Sue.
I really like your header photo, Leanne. That is infrared–besides being monochrome? Might be a silly question, but can you use infrared with color photography?
That is my favourite too Lois. Yes, it is an infrared image. You can, but you have to get a different filter for your camera to do it, mine you can’t do it. Thank you Lois.
Beautiful Leanne! I’ll try to convert a picture for this one.
Thank you Anne, that would great.
