A couple of months ago, when I went to Portsea to take some photos of London Bridge, I took a lot more than just the rock structure. I know I have shown you a few of the infrared images that I took that day, but for Monochrome Madness free week, I wanted to show you a lot more from there.
I’m slowly falling in love with the infrared camera and what you can see with it. It shows the world, but in a different way, and I can see myself making sure that I have it most of the time when I go out to take photos. I like the size of it and know that I can carry both cameras easily. The best thing is that I get both colour and infrared photos.
Of course, there are going to be times when colour will be better. Also, infrared can just look like black and white because you need plants or something like that in the images.
Here are some more of the infrared images from that day in Portsea.
Next week you have me as your host for Monochrome Madness #41, and I have chosen the theme MOVEMENT. It can be any movement you like in an image.
Participating in Monochrome Madness
If you would like to participate in this challenge, please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then we can all use the reader to see what you post.
You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to the host’s monochrome madness post in your post, and it leaves a link in the comment section.
Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced, and there is also all the information for participating. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.
There’s beach grass, and then there’s beach grass as revealed by infrared…
That’s kind of you to say Penny, thank you.
I especially like the first 3 photos. Here’s my contribution:https://gwhphotos2.wordpress.com/2025/08/13/monochrome-madness-tree-faces/
Thank you.
These are gorgeous, Leanne!
Thank you Sandy.
Very nice, Leanne!
Thank you Sofia.
Great dramatic photos as ever. Here’s my hasty post today: grandchildren arriving! https://margaret21.com/2025/08/13/found-at-the-fair/
Thank you Margaret.
Looking good, Leanne.
I didn’t think the infrared would work at the beach, but it does.
Thank you Vicki, you know I wasn’t sure it would either, but I was really pleased with the images.
Love this. The muted elegance of the grasses is captivating.
Thank you, that’s great to hear.
Hello Leanne,
Wonderful infrared photos you have selected for this week. I particularly like the sixth, seventh, and last images.
Many greetings, Robert
Thank you so much Robert.
Infrared does make for great monochromes Leanne. The beach and coast are great subjects as well. The grasses is my favourite
It does, though I was surprised how well it did for the beach. The grasses did turn out great, thank you Brian.
Just love the pictures with the seagrass…very moody captures 🙂
Oh yes, seagrass is a great subject, thank you Linda.
INteresting infra-red photos.
I kind of wish wish I had an infra-red camera. While it records in black and white. Infra-red light reflects differently on its subject than ordinary light. As a result you can get completely different lighting effects with Infra-red than you can with black and white.
Thank you Randy.
It is amazing what it does, you can get some amazing images. maybe you need to get one, or maybe a filter.
I just love your infrared images Leanne!
That’s great Anne, thank you.
Wonderful dunes, kind of darkish and almost threatening (the weather) but beautiful! Here are my “free” photos of the week: https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2025/08/12/tree-houses/
Thank you so much Elke.
