One Four Challenge – Stairway going up Week 1

It is back and this is week 1. If you want more information about this challenge then please take a look at my post from last week. You can find it here.

I’ve mentioned Robyn a few times with this challenge as she was the person who started it. I decided to contact her to find out if she was okay with us doing it and using the same name. Thankfully, I think, she loves that we are doing it again. She has started a new blog and you can find that here. We are hoping Robyn will join us, but I know she is really busy, so it may not happen every month.

I’ve been through my images and decided that I want to do this one.  This is the original.

Original

It is an image that I took last year. It is also one that not long after this we were told we couldn’t take photos of the architecture. We basically had to leave. Interesting that I have not been able to get in contact with the management of the group, and I’ve heard from others that they encourage people to take photos and publish them. So I am confused, can you take photos or not?

At least you know that you can keep the photos you have taken up until you are told not to.

I love the shape of these stairs and the way they sweep down, it is almost like they are fluid. Such interesting architecture and I have published photos of them before. This time we walked around them more and I was able to see the different lines.

It was a shame the sun was shining so brightly.

Week 1

I have processed it here, but I have only done very basic stuff. I have a few ideas for what I can do in the next few weeks. Let’s see if I can make four different images.

So really this was just processing in Camera Raw and then Photoshop. I really didn’t do a lot. I did try to darken the trees, and while it worked some, it wasn’t great. Perhaps that is what I need to work on next week.

Here is a gallery of the images so far.

  1. Good morning Leanne.. this is an interesting image.
Full of contrast and fantastic design. The stairs and place are amazing. There also seems to be a juxtaposition of warm and cool within the structure itself.
I like the way you have processed this week’s image and reducing the brightness outside.
It’s so strange that there would be any limitations on photographing architecture.

    1. Hello Robyn, nice to hear from you.
I’m glad you like the image. It is pretty amazing, sad about the rules to photograph it though.
I love how you have described it, I’m hopeless at that sort of thing. Thank you Robyn, so glad to have you back.

  2. Leanne–you made me laugh: “It was a shame the sun was shining so brightly.” I await your darkening of this fabulous staircase. 😆
