I took this image quite a few years ago and processed it at the same time. Since that time I think it is fair to say my processing has changed somewhat, for the better I hope. I think at times I may have overprocessed stuff. I know I look at some now, and I just cringe. I mean, what was I thinking? Not all of my images, but some definitely.
I look at this one and think that I like a lot of it, but not sure about the tones, so this is what I want to fix.
This here below is the original image. I had to straighten it, and I used AI to remove some of the reflections in the glass and the gold star in the window. Not that it mattered about the gold star in the end.
The thing I wanted to do most was brighten up what is the entrance to the building, at least I think it is. I wanted to remove most of the distractions, and I cropped the image because I didn’t know what that weird thing on the left was, so I cropped it out.
I think the crop centres the image more on the entrance, and I like that.
I did desaturate it quite a bit. I didn’t want it to be black and white, but I didn’t want it to be too colourful either.
Ultimately, it is just an empty space, and I like how it has come out.
There is something I don’t like, though it is in all the images, and that’s the chrome poles. They have funny reflections or shapes in them, and I think they look weird.
I was going to do a before and after, but I couldn’t decide whether to do it with the original image, the past-processed one, or this one. So I am not going to do one. I will put the three images into a gallery, and you can decide whether I have improved it or not.
