Silent Sunday – Sand Harbour at Lake Tahoe

Looking back at my visit to Lake Tahoe today and the day we went to Sand Harbour for Silent Sunday. It was a great day, but there were a lot of people there.

Silent Sunday – Sand Harbour at Lake Tahoe

When I was told we were going to Lake Tahoe I didn’t think much of it. It is a lake, but I was so surprised at how big it was. We have lakes here, however they are nothing like this. Usually, lakes this big are just dustbowls or dried up salt unless there are floods. Not all lakes are like that, we do have smaller ones that have water in them most of the time.

When we went to Sand Harbour it was like visiting an American movie. Like a summer camp movie. It was strange.

The lake is beautiful and all around it, there are so many communities. You seem to drive from one town to another, which goes to show how big it is.

Some of the places are beautiful and Sand Harbour was incredible. We only seem to see places like that along the coast. All those rocks and beach, it could have been the ocean, if you couldn’t see the other side.

Visiting

We had lunch there and what I had has stuck with me all these years, well the 3 or so years since I was there. I had an Alaskan Salmon burger.

OMG it was amazing. It was one of the best things I ate while in the states, well besides my hosts cooking, he was a good cook.

You can’t get anything like that here. I’ve tried. Now that I am a vegetarian I won’t have one, but then again, maybe if I went back I might give in.

So sadly that is what I really think of when I think back. Silly, I know. Still there you go.

I have put together a few photos from where we went.

  1. Glad you were able to see my “backyard” – year round it offers so many changing vistas. And, you can find the solitude if willing to leave the road.

    1. I loved your backyard Donna, would love to visit again and explore more. I have seen photos of Sand Harbour with snow and it looked magical. Yes, solitude is a great thing, and one of those things I think you can get when you live in an area. Thank you.

  2. Yes, waaaaay too many people. I rather enjoy the last image, Leanne, it gives perspective and breadth to what we understand as “Lake Tahoe.”

    1. I don’t like going to places with lots of people. Not always possible. Thank you Scott, that last image only shows part of the lake as well. I took that on the way to Reno.

  3. Did you get to Emerald Bay? I’ve spent many summers there as a boy, wonderful place. Nice photos, as always.

    1. No, I didn’t get there. The problem with being there for only a limited time. Sounds interesting I will have to google it Ted. Thank you.

  4. I love Lake Tahoe, got some lovely pictures in the Spring of 2016 with snow on the mountains and lovely clear water and wall to wall blue sky.
