Silent Sunday – Wandering around the city with the X-T3

Silent Sunday - Wandering around the city the X-T3

Come on, you had to know that I would be posting photos taken with the X-T3 soon and for Silent Sunday I thought it might be nice to look at some I did wandering around the city.

Silent Sunday – Wandering around the city the X-T3

This morning I had my first opportunity to head into the city to try out the camera. It was a great morning, considering it is raining now.

We went to a few places as we searched for somewhere to have breakfast. It was a nice wander and gave me a few opportunities to use the camera and take some photos.

OMG, I just love using it. I liked my other camera, but this one is so easy to carry around. My neck didn’t get sore or my back. It was brilliant.

Another reason we went was to go to a couple of camera stores to see about getting the Fujinon XF18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens. Now I have more of a range for my photography. I loved using this lens in New Zealand, so I’m happy I have one now.

While out I asked about trading my D850 for a some other lenses and was offered a good price that I might see if I can actually get. There are two more lenses I would like at this stage.

Gallery

Here is a small gallery for you to look at. All the images were taken with the same ISO, which was great. I didn’t have to keep changing it for the photos. That makes it so much easier.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

  1. Leanne, I love your photographs. Can I ask what lens you were using for the Finders Street Station shot (number 0013)? There’s an interesting perspective thing happening there.

    1. Thank you Joanne, all the images were taken with the 10-24mm. That was taken from the corner over. If that makes sense.

  2. The joy of carrying a camera again is one of the biggest reasons I love the X-Series! I rarely if ever took my 5D MkIII out unless I was heading out specifically to photograph something. It just wasn’t any fun carrying it around on the off chance something might catch my eye. With my X-Series cameras I take one with me almost everywhere I go. Sometimes I go out with just the camera and a single lens, usually either the 23 or 35 f2s, and just wander.

Another thing I do during those times I’m just aimlessly wandering is to shoot in jpeg. Which is something else I never did with the big Canon. I’ll admit that when I first switched I didn’t believe all the hype over the Fujifilm jpegs, but when I got back to my hotel room after my first day in one of the Disney parks I was convinced. I had set my XPro1 to RAW+jpeg, just in case. I’d say 90*% of the jpegs(shot with the Velvia film simulation) were good to go right out of the camera.

I could go on and on, but then people might think I’m some kind of crazy fan-boy or something 😂

    1. I have to say I agree with you there, they are so easy to walk around with. Mind you I’ve only been out once with it so far. I was the same with my D850, the idea of having to carry it around for hours was getting to me. It is nice to just go out with the camera and a lens, makes you think differently I think.

Someone else was telling me about the jpegs yesterday. I have only just got it, but it is something I will play with. I like the film effects, and like using those. I think I will shoot in both for a while as well.

Please go on and on, it is nice hearing about your experiences, I’m a fan-girl now, absolutely. Thank you Jeff.

    2. Light compared to a full frame DSLR is an understatement. While in Disney with the XPro1 that opened my eyes to Fujifilm, I kept banging the camera into things because I would forget it was hanging off my shoulder. That NEVER happened with the Canon. I always knew that monster was there.

One of the nicest things about those jpegs is that you can create as many different versions as you want in camera. When shooting RAW I’ll often go into the in camera RAW converter and create several different versions of a photo to see what works for me. Even if you only have one film simulation you love, being mirrorless what you see in the viewfinder is what you get, so you know pretty much exactly what the photo will look like when you press the shutter.

    3. I know what you mean, though for me, I was always keep to get the camera out of the bag so it wouldn’t weigh as much.

That is good to know about the jpegs, I think I might actually read the manual for this camera, it has so many more functions, so I would really like to know exactly what I can do with it. Thanks Jeff. Might have to email you.

  3. Fantastic images. It looks like you were using the 18-135mm lens. I’ve looked at that for travel but haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet. You images further convince me that it would likely be a wise investment.

    1. We did cover many of the same places. lol. Melbourne is such a great city to photograph. Are you going to the People with Camera’s event next weekend?
I am loving it. I usually shoot in Aperture Priority. Thank you Don.
