Stopping off at Taradale to take photos of the Historic Railway Viaduct

On my day out to Castlemaine, we stopped at a couple of places along the way, and one of those places was Taradale.

Taradale is a small town with a population of 448 according to Wikipedia. I used to drive through this town all the time when I went to my mum’s, but since the Calder Freeway was built, I don’t go through it anymore. That is, unless I want to go there.

I’ve been back to take photos, but only of the railway viaduct. However, as we were driving out, I did wonder if I had missed some things that would be good to take photos of there. I might have to give it a good visit soon.

The construction on the Railway Viaduct began in 1858 and was completed in 1862. While there is no longer a train station at Taradale, the Viaduct is still used as it forms the main line between Bendigo and Melbourne. I suspect when I lived up around Swan Hill when I was a young adult when I caught the train to Melbourne, I probably went over this many times and had no idea.

I used the infrared camera there, and I also used my other camera. I might do most of the same photos that were done in colour for you tomorrow as a Silent Sunday post. I don’t have them all in colour, but a few of them. I might see if I can find some of my older images as well.

I like these, but I would love to see how different it is in spring, maybe I need to go back.

    1. Castlemaine is gorgeous, have you been to Malmsbury as well Teresa, both on the same road to Castlemaine from here. Thank you Teresa.

  2. Great depth. Infrared is a genre I’m interested in but haven’t had the budget yet. All very they’re eventually. The contrast and details in lo light shown with this tech is awesome.😊
