I hope you don’t mind, but I am doing a repost of a blog I did on my old blog. It is hard to think straight right now. A horrible tragic thing happened in Melbourne on Friday and it was all a little too close to home. A man in a car drove through pedestrians in the Bourke Street Mall, a popular shopping street here. Five people died, including a 10 year old girl and a three month old baby boy. Things like this don’t happen in Melbourne, well not often and we are a city in shock. It wasn’t a terrorist attack, just a man with a history of domestic violence and drug and mental health problems. He is in custody now, but still, we are in shock. Can I just add, that I am so glad guns are illegal here, or it could have been a whole lot worse.

These were taken 12 months ago on a trip to Sorrento. The day was hot, but towards sunset it was lovely here. I haven’t been to the beach for so long, I need a trip.

This post is a day late, I’ve been away at my mums. I went up there to take photos of a project that had just finished. It was also a great opportunity to try out the Nikon D500 a lot. I think it is a great camera, can’t believe it is almost time to give it back.

Christmas Presents

It is only two weeks to Christmas and if you are still looking for gifts I hope you will take a look at what I have that you could give someone as a gift voucher, or buy a copy of the book.

Articles

I told you last week that I had been published in the magazine Better Photography, but then earlier in the week another article I had written for a different magazine, Australian Photography, published it on their website. The first one you have to buy the magazine, but the second, 7 Tips for Better Cityscapes is online and you can read it on their website, click here to see it.

Gear List

I keep forgetting to mention that at the top under the About page I have added a page that lets you know what gear I have and use. I’ve had people asking me from time to time what I use, so thought it might be good to add the list.

Photos

Summer is here now and I thought it might be nice to take a look at some photos from Flinders. The photos were taken last year. I love it down there, I should think about another trip, but not soon. The busiest time to visit any beach is the two weeks after Christmas, so I’m staying clear. I made the mistake last year going down to Sorrento and spent more time in traffic than I did taking photos. It will be nice to get back down there after the summer break in February.

We listened to the sound of rain all night and as we woke up this morning. We decided that there wasn’t much point getting up early to take photos and almost decided that today would be a rest day. Then we thought, let’s go and get some coffee, but the rain stopped, so we headed out. We had a quick stop at the Coffee Shack here in Strahan to get a coffee and got some great tips from the lady that works there. Oh yeah, the coffee was good, and we will be going back tomorrow morning.

We ended up getting about 4 hours to take photos, which was good, we had missed lunch and when we started thinking about food the sky started getting darker and darker. We stopped to get some lunch and the rain started and hasn’t stopped.

We did wake up to the news that Tasmania was flooding and it took us a while before we found out that we were okay. Hopefully it won’t effect us too much.

We took photos all around the harbour here in Strahan and also went for a drive to Macquarie Heads, then to the beach. I will put explanations on the photos for you.

I will leave it there, I hope you enjoy the photos.
