My head has been spinning for the past couple of weeks, but more on why further on in the post. Things are getting busy, but they always seem to be really. I don’t mind, it is nice to be busy and working hard. I just wish that it would transfer to sales, but I’m working on some things that will hopefully help with that.

Dynamic Range Magazine

The magazine is starting to take shape for the next issue. We have had a few false starts and people pulling out and I’ve had to scramble to find others to write articles. I guess that is the problem with running a magazine and now I have to sort it out.

Speaking of writing, we would still love to hear from anyone who is interested in writing for us. We can’t pay, but if you are starting out then it is a great experience.

Sales still aren’t great, but I am trying to work out how I can sell the magazine using other platforms rather than mostly here. I really need to do a course in marketing and see what I can learn. I’m finding that my time is stretched so thin these days it is hard to give it my full attention. What I need to find is someone who wants to learn about marketing, or a student that can see what they can do. Sadly there is no money to pay anyone.

One on One Photography Sessions

I have to say that I’ve had an increase in the number of these in the past few months. It has been great. I do enjoy them a lot and it is nice getting out showing people my Melbourne. I have also met some amazing people as well.  I have a few more coming up in the next few weeks too.

One thing that I really like is the number of people coming whoo want to learn long exposure photography. I have set myself up so I can teach people to how to use the filters, but also so they can use mine if they don’t have their own. It is a great way for people who are curious about doing them to learn how and experiment before spending the money on buying them.

If you are interested in doing a One on One with me go to this link.

Tutorials

This is where I have been concentrating a lot of my thoughts this week. Trying to come up with some video tutorials for people to buy from me. I know that people hate that everything is for sale, but I do have to make a living, unfortunately.

I’ve been thinking about what I can do, and one thing I realise is that I don’t want to compete with all the other online tutorials teaching people how to use Photoshop or Lightroom. I am thinking of doing something a bit further advanced. I am still mulling it over, so will discuss it more later on.

I am going to do what I said last week and do one video package and see how that goes before I decide on doing a series.

Instagram

I’ve been doing a course on how to sell on Instagram. It has been interesting and I do know that I have been putting  a lot of my efforts there. The course has been about how to turn followers in customers, so I will have to see if I can make it happen. I am going to see if I get people buy my tutorials or get me to teach them photo editing. I know I can teach, I just need to find my customers now.

Speaking of Instagram, all the photos are what I have had up there this week and haven’t had here. I have put captions so you can see them. If you want to follow me on Instagram my handle is @leannecolephotography.

Just recently I’ve been asked to do a few One on One Photography Sessions around Melbourne. It has been great to get people who want to learn how to photograph Melbourne like I do. It is also challenging. I met a lovely man from Sydney the other day and we spent a couple of days exploring Melbourne. On the second day I tried to show him some places that perhaps the average tourist wouldn’t really know about.

We met at Federation Square and went to Birrarung Mar, a local park near the city. You can get some great views of the city from there.

The sun was going down and we really were at the wrong end of the city to be making the most of the sunset. It always seems to be the way with me, unfortunately.

I love the images you can get from this bridge, I’ve been there a view times, but these are the first ones that I can say that I really liked.

We also took photos of the trains going in and out of the city, I took lots so I could stack them. Two in the gallery are stacked, this is one and the other is just one image.

To finish off the night we ended up Hosier Lane. A place that is usually photographed during the day. I’d seen some great shots of it at night and thought I would like to try, so I got this.

It was a fun evening and I think my client enjoyed what I showed him and what he got to photograph. We finished off the night with a drink and a bowl of chips with aioli at Young & Jackson, another Melbourne institution. I think he enjoyed his time and got some great shots too. I love showing my city to other people.

I have a gallery of a few more images, plus those above, I hope you enjoy them. Weekend here, and the weather is looking nice. Enjoy.

It is a new week and time to look ahead, but nothing wrong with a quick look back. There are some articles I’ve done that I’ve forgotten to tell you about and a few other things.

I hope you enjoy them. It is nice to be writing about Long Exposure Photography, I am really loving it as a technique and am always amazed at what I get.

Tasmania

The final things are being purchased and the excitement is building. Can’t wait to get down there with my camera.

tasmaniaI’m afraid I might be a lazy traveler and suspect I’ve left too much of the organising to my friend. I hate planning things, nothing ever goes according to it, and I like to just go with the flow. I suppose that could be annoying for many.

Sponsors

I haven’t really tried to get sponsors for this trip. I have to admit I’ve been feeling quite despondent lately. I’m feeling like there isn’t a lot of point trying to do anything because nothing really works out for me. I know it isn’t a good attitude and it doesn’t help. I’ve tried being positive, but it doesn’t work either.  I decided not to get worked up about it this time and didn’t ask for anything, besides Nikon. I see other people get everything, and then, me, nothing. I do have to wonder.  Enough of that.

Learn from Leanne

That is what I’ve called the section of this site for people who want to learn from me. I have got the One on One Sessions and the Photo editing options for Skype.

I’ve got a few 1 on 1 sessions coming up which is really nice, good for my trip as well. I am also finding more and more people want to go out and do long exposure photography which is also nice.

Photos

The other day I showed you some photos that I took the other night around Docklands. Today I have some photos taken in much the same places, but this time they were taken in the morning, around sunrise. There were no clouds so no sunrise really.  Still the water around the Webb Bridge was beautiful and I do love the pink skies you can get at that time of day.
