Away for a few days

Away for a few days

Later today I am heading away for a few days. It is the New Moon and I’m hoping to get some Astro shots down along the Great Ocean Road.

Away for a few days

I can’t talk long today, I still haven’t packed and I’m being picked up in a couple of hours. I’m not stressed at all. Really I’m not. I am only going away for 3 nights, and I did the washing yesterday, so I’ll just pack all of those clothes. Then I will have the stuff I’ve worn for the last few days. Yeah a bit crazy, but that is me. I will probably take too many clothes, but it might rain and I might need more. Seriously who knows, I’m lazy, who wants to think that much about things.

Oh yes, I’m going away. So I am heading down to the Port Campbell. That is the closest town to the 12 Apostles and I’m looking forward to having a few days to explore the area thoroughly. There is so much more there than just the apostles.

The reason we are going down there at this particular time is that tonight is the New Moon. Perfect time for some Astrophotography. I haven’t done enough of that photography so I am looking forward to getting out to do some. Please, please weather gods, keep the clouds to a minimum and the rain away. Oh and please someone make it not so attractive to the tourists now.

Winston is coming with me, my 3 Legged Thing tripod. It will be my first real time away with him. He is going to get a lot of work and I know we are going to get along well. I also have my Formatt Hitech filters packed and ready. The new Nightscape filter is also there. I can’t wait to try it out with the night sky.

I thought it might be nice to have a look at the previous images I’ve taken around the area. These images go back to 2013. I seem to get there nearly every year at least once. When I’ve stayed down there in the past I’ve usually based myself in Apollo Bay, but Port Campbell will be so much better.

Anyway here are the photos. I will do some posts while I’m away.
