Since I seem to be doing lots of monochrome this week I asked myself what is my favourite monochrome image ever, and this is the first one that came to my mind.
It isn’t fancy, but I just love it. I am not sure why, but there is just something about it.
It was taken one day when I was driving around some country areas looking for churches to photograph. There is a church right next to this, but this was just as interesting.
I don’t think it is used anymore and recently heard it was being sold, sadly. It looks like a sturdy building and I wonder how many fetes were held there, or dances in the good old days. I don’t know, I think when I became of age disco was here and Saturday night dances were for the oldies.
The image has been converted to monochrome and aspects were darkened for artistic effect. I also put a tone over the top of it to give it a slight sepia look. I think it really helps in the shadows too.
I took lots of photos of this area so I might share some of those tomorrow for Silent Sunday.
Where is this?
I think it was in Newbridge.
Striking contrasts, neat moody look.
Thank you Tom.
Some of the old church halls were great looking buildings
They were, thing of the past now.
Modern churches have no feeling either let alone a hall for the community
I couldn’t agree more Brian. Sadly I think it applies to a lot of modern architecture.
Haunting in a beautiful way.
Thank you Michael.
You’re welcome, Leanne.
That IS a lovely photo. But you have so many! How can you choose?
Thank you Margaret, I tend to go with the first one I think of and this was it. Though you are right I have lots to chose from, I just find it hard to remember them. lol
Leanne I saw these old church Hall.
Thanks Anita
Did you Anita? They are great.

Beautiful! I like old small churches.
Thank you Anne, they are full of character I think.
