Floral Friday – A tribute to the flowers last summer

I’ve made videos before, but it has been a while. Part of that reason is because I lost Camtasia. When I replaced the hard disk in my laptop last year I didn’t save the program. I tried to get a copy of it again, but Camtasia, or TechSmith, said they don’t support it anymore, and I couldn’t get a copy of it. Not gonna lie that really peeved me off. They have now gone to the subscription plans and if you want to use it the plans start at A$312.20.

I was like, WHAT. That is outrageous. When you think about it you can subscribe to Adobe Premier Pro for A$431.88 per year. If I had to pay that much I would go with Premier Pro as it a much more comprehensive program.

I don’t want to pay for either, so I’ve been looking for some other software and I found one. There is an Australian Company that makes a program called Davinci Resolve and you can download it for free or pay for it. The free version has everything I think I would use anyway, so I am going to stick with it for now.

It isn’t an easy program to use and I’ve had to spend a lot of time trying to work out how to do the stuff I want to do. I have stuck with using my photos to make the video for this post, but I do want to try some other stuff later on.

I have picked a few photos and put them together in a short video with music.

I’m going to put the link or video below. I really want to do more of these and some of the older ones I did, I might redo, because I didn’t think they were very good.

I hope you like the video. You can watch it here or click on the work YouTube to watch it on my channel, which would be hugely appreciated.

  1. Your flower macros look beautiful presented like this. I may check out that software although at the moment I’m happy with a program I downloaded a while back (also free I think) called PhotoStage

    1. Thank you Sarah, it is a nice way to show your photos I think. I haven’t heard of that program. My husband and I are both using this one, complicated, but we are getting there.

  2. Interesting search for a program that would show off your always intriguing photos. I spent thousands of dollars on Adobe Creative Suite and then they went to subscription mode in 2013 when I retired, and wanted a fortune, only giving me a ‘deal’ for one year. I have switched to Affinity for some programs and now trying to figure out iMovie, but it’s not easy to switch!

    1. Thank you, I was surprised to find Davinci Resolve. I have only ever used Camtasia, so it was all new to me. I tried Premier Pro once, but I couldn’t be bothered learning it. Adobe is getting more and more expensive, that’s for sure. I’m using Affinity now too and trying to learn it. It isn’t easy to switch, but you will get there, I’m sure.

  3. You’re indefatigable, Leanne! I recently produced a 3 minute video for a challenge within our photo club. It almost finished me off. I was glad I’d done it (and I got a ‘commended’ validation) but it showed me that it ain’t for me. My husband said he’d divorce me if I did it again! Whereas your skills of being both techie and arty are the ideal combination!

    1. Making videos isn’t easy, the new software I’m using is doing my head in a bit. I know once I work out how to use it I will feel better, but it is a different skill. Congratulations on the commended.

  4. The video is beautiful, very well done. The music is perfect. I found watching it very relaxing. You did a great job, Leanne!

  5. This is rather funny. I was just thinking this morning about how you used to do videos and that I wished you would start again!

    1. Oh yes, I want to do a lot more of them, and have lots of plans Anne, so it’s good to hear you have missed them. Thank you.
