Floral Friday – Visiting places from long ago

Blue Lotus Water Garden

It seems it is 4 years since I last visited Blue Lotus Water Garden according to Google. It is a great place to go and photograph water lilies and lotus flowers. They have a great variety.

They are only open for a short period each year, around 3 to 4 months. I might have to see if I can make an effort to get there next season.

One thing I like about photographing them is that you don’t need anything special, just a long lens. I tend to take one that goes to 300mm, which gives me enough reach. You can’t get really close to them so having a lens that you can zoom in with really helps. Maybe next time I might even try taking my tripod. See if that makes it easier too.

I have often taken my macro lens, but I just don’t tend to use it there.

On a side note, I learned the other day that the name Kamala means lotus flower, pretty cool.

Do you love these sorts of flowers?

  1. Bit late I know but these are all beautiful photographs. Water lilies are some of my favourite flowers and the white ones with the light coming through are just magical.
