The last couple of weeks I have been talking a lot about Lensbaby, and I hope you get the idea that I really love them. They have been great lenses for me and recently I wrote an article about them for Digital Photography School. It was published today and here is the link.
Overview of the Lensbaby System β Is it for you?
I have photos for you as well that have been on Instagram this week. I hope you enjoy them.
A very thorough review of the Lensbaby Leanne . You’ve taken some absolutely lovely photos with it , fascinating effects .. very dreamy and all enhanced by your own style of processing of course π I think I might struggle with the manual focus with my eyes lol but I can definitely see its appeal . More please π
Thank you Louise. I’ve been having so much fun with the Lensbaby, so glad I have it. I have to say, that I thought the same with the manual focus, my eyes aren’t great either, but I am getting more and more used to it. There will be plenty more, I have a different Lensbaby lens now and oh my, I am loving, not looking forward to handing it back.
Really beautiful photographs, Leanne, made even more so by your wonderful use of light.
My absolute favorite (by far) Lensbaby is the Velvet 56. It’s really such a versatile lens.
Thank you Lisa, what a lovely thing to say.
I am starting to see that about the Velvet 56, I am having so much fun with it.
Beautiful pics. Of what I’ve seen, it must be hard to take a bad pic with a Lensbaby.
Thank you. It is a bit of hit and miss sometimes, but it is also getting used to it David, I find the more I use them the better I am getting at judging what will work and what won’t, but I suppose that is the same for any lens system.
How do you feel about their all manual focusing? Maybe you don’t use autofocus much anyway, but my eyes are not as good as they were and I depend on it. Just interested to hear your thoughts. I do LOVE the effects and they make them for the 4/3 format. At least, some of the lenses are available in 4/3.
It is an interesting question Marilyn and one I’ve been asked a bit recently. I was worried about it as well, my eyes aren’t great, and I really don’t like lenses that are manual focus and always use autofocus, but I have to say, the more I use the Lensbaby the better I am getting at it. I have even started using it on my macro lens, I can get closer as well then. So at first it was harder, but my in focus shots are on the increase. I love the effects as well, and I am loving using them. I hope that answers your question, let me know if you have anymore.
Thanks, Leanne. I have to ponder it, but it might be worth a try. i wish I could just “try it” without first buying.
It would be good if you could, shame I’m not close by, you could try mine.
You couldn’t BE much further away. I think if you put a pin through the earth in my backyard, it might come out somewhere near you π
I think you could be right Marilyn.
π
I love your handling of lights and darks in this set of photographs, Leanne.
thank you Laura, I think they were some of my best.
which phone do you use with lensbaby? iphone I suppose?
No, I don’t have an iPhone, I use Android, I did have the Samsung Note 4 and many of my photos were used with that and the Lensbaby lenses on it.
Thanks for explaining this system. Some new possibilities!
You’re welcome, hope it helps.
I’m enjoying seeing all the amazing pictures you’re taking with the lensbaby lens, Leanne.
That’s great to hear Carol, I am really enjoying playing with it. Thank you.
