Lens-Artists Challenge #360 – Found at the Fair/ Market

This week, our host is Ann-Christine from Leya, and her choice for the challenge is found at the fair or market. I wasn’t sure about this one as I don’t really like going to either. I have this thing where I hate crowds and I avoid them like the plague.

We don’t have fairs here, actually, that’s not true, we don’t call them fairs, we call them shows, so today I decided to show you some photos from the Royal Melbourne Show taken back in 2016. It is only one of 3 times I’ve ever been. It is so expensive, and there are just too many people there. So I avoid it.

I went on two separate days, and I’m going to show them that way. The first day was just to look around, and the images are mostly from daytime.  Here are some of those.

Looking at them now, I think I used a Lensbaby for some of the photos. I think I had a lens on my phone.

The next day, we wanted to do more nighttime stuff. They have a fireworks show each evening, and we wanted to get that plus the rides in the dark. I decided to take my fisheye with me for the evening photos and I’m so glad I did.

For the fireworks, we were lucky to get access to the top of a roof to take the photos. Getting accreditation can be a real advantage at times.

So here are some of those images. Look at how cool the fisheye took the rides at night.

I was going to finish the post there, but then I thought, show, and I thought why not chuck in a gallery of photos from the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, so here are some of those.

I’ve been in the city all morning taking photos, so I hope this post makes some sense. I’m a bit tired now, but I did get a lot of new images to play with, I hope. Sadly, the sun was out, but you can’t get great conditions all the time.

Thank you, Ann-Christine, for being our host this week. My laptop is back working after the catastrophe of last week, so I am looking forward to seeing what everyone posts this week.

  1. Oh these are superb, Leanne! I especially love the ones with slow shutter on the ferris wheels with their lights 🙂.

  2. Wow! Those night ‘ride’ images are amazing. All the others are too, but especially the night ones.

  3. These are great, Leanne! I love the doll in purple and the lollipops, but the nighttime photos….! Dazzling!

  4. First – thank you for participating even if you, (me and many others too) are not “crowd friendly” people! Sometimes we do go and sometimes we can go back to our old photos and find them revealing… quite good memories. Great post, where I really loved the night time fisheye pictures! The flower and garden show is of course a plus for me!

    1. It’s funny, but I think I have got worse with crowds since the pandemic, I just don’t feel safe. Thank you Ann-Christine, nice to hear which ones you liked.
