Monochrome Madness – Along the coast in 2013

Since I’ve been looking back at 2012 and 2013, I decided to look for more photos that I could convert for today’s Monochrome Madness. I found 5 images. Sadly, it seems I have deleted a lot of photos or raw images from that time. I’m such an idiot sometimes doing that. I need to make sure I keep the raw ones, maybe just get rid of copies, or similar ones. I don’t know.

As always I find it an interesting experience to try converting images to monochrome. There were at least two, maybe 3, that didn’t make the cut because they just didn’t translate well. They lost something, or a lot of everything. So I had to skip those. I do know that a good monochrome image has a lot of contrast, so that is what I try to find.

There is something about the coast and monochrome, don’t you think? Water, waves and clouds, perfect for conversion. Well, most of the time.

These are all from 2013 and are from various trips to the coast. We have Cape Schanck, 12 Apostles, Clifton Springs, Barwon Heads and I’m not sure where the last one was taken.

I hope you like them.

Next week is another theme and I will your host. I had this idea a while back to try using one image and cropping it three different ways. So my theme is ONE IMAGE CROPPED 3 WAYS. Hopefully people will find it interesting.

    1. That’s right Jude, it is a free week, no theme. great that you joined us. I am behind and will check it out soon. Thank you.

  1. When I first started taking digital photos I delected quite rigorously not so perfect photos or almost duplicates. Until my nephew asked: “Why? It’s not like it’s a storage problem, not with digital photos.” He was right. Now I keep almost everything. I’m fastidious about tagging so I don’t have to wade through hundreds or possibly thousdands of photos when I look for something.
I like the play of light and darkness in your photos, particularly the first one. Monochrome master!

    1. It turned out to be a storage problem for me unfortunately. My husband initially refused to get me more, but I have a lot now. It isn’t always great deleting.
Thank you Elke, I love playing with light.
