I picked a couple of these out a while ago with the intention of using them for the Margaret’s theme last week. In the end I didn’t use them, but when I was looking for some photos to use for our free week I found them again. I decided to try finding some more.
I did find quite a few and then I opened them up in ON1 Photo Raw 2025 to see what I could do. I know I’m probably getting known as the preset queen, but I made sure I didn’t use any for these photos. I did just a few effects and some local adjustments.
I think it is fairly obvious that I added some tones to them, which I don’t mind. I like the way they change the mood of the images. I didn’t mess around a lot with them, just quick adjustments and effects.
These were taken on my first trip to Tasmania in 2026 on a rainy day near Strahan. We were meant to go on a boat cruise that day, but we cancelled it because it was meant to rain. Well, it did rain, but not a lot. As it turned o,ut the next day was a lot wetter. I mean, what can you do? Since the weather wasn’t as bad, we thought we would go for a drive down a dirt road to a back beach, I guess you would call it. We found an inlet where a creek or river was running into the ocean. The patterns from the water on the sand was beautiful. I took a lot of photos, and this is what I have today.
I have a gallery for you today, and this is a selection of some of the sand pattern photos.
I think they are interesting to look at. I hope you like them too.
Next week is another theme for Monochrome Madness #40 our host is Brian from Bushboy’s World and he has chosen ANY SUBJECT BACKLIT.
Participating in Monochrome Madness
If you would like to participate in this challenge, please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then we can all use the reader to see what you post.
You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to the host’s monochrome madness post in your post, and it leaves a link in the comment section.
Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced and there is also all the information for participating. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.
Hi there!
I’m just getting started on WordPress and was looking for helpful pages — yours came up, and it really caught my interest. You’ve got a new subscriber from me!
Welcome to WP, there is a great community here and I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for wanting to follow me, a good way to find people is doing challenges and checking out the reader.
You’ve chosen a wonderful and interesting selection for this week. I particularly like the 1st, 4th, and 7th.
Here is my contribution for this week, https://wp.me/pfnz9O-Ox.
Many greetings, Robert
Thank you so mch Robert.
Nice patterns 🙂
Thank you Sofia.
I like the different tones you’ve used on these, they emphasise the semi-abstract nature of the shots 🙂 Nothing from me this week, nor for the next couple of weeks, as I’m off on a trip with very limited wifi!
Thank you Sarah. I thought they worked with these. Sounds like a good reason not to post, take care and have a great time Sarah.
All are great images, but I especially like the first and third images,
Thank you Ritva.
Sand makes the best patterns and textures. Love these Leanne 😀
It really does, it is amazing. Thank you Brian. 😀
That featured photo looks like a different planet. Amazing gallery!
Sand is incredible for creating patterns, thank you Egidio.
I really like these, especially the lead image. Excellent work, as usual. 😊
Thank you so much.
Awesome Photos 😎
Thank you. 😀
I really enjoy seeing photography like this. Your images are so moody and make me want to take my camera back down to the shore.
Thank you, I hope you do that, the shore is a great place for photos.
the random beauty of nature
Absolutely, thank you Julie.
Love your sandy artwork!
Thank you Sandy.
These are beautiful Leanne! You certainly made good use out of a cloudy, dark day. The patterns are great.
Thank you Anne. They are.
These are glorious wild beachscapes, Leanne. Love ’em! I thought I’d mention that for the last week or two, I have had real difficuty accessing your site. When I click on the link, it takes an AGE to load – maybe a whole minute. This isn’t true of any other WP blogs I read. Do you know if anybody else has this trouble? I know there’s nothing you can do about it and it’s not your fault – but it’s irritating.
Thank you Margaret. No I didn’t know you were having trouble, my site is a WordPress.org one, so I am self hosted, but I do everything to make it easy to load, all my photos are made much smaller, so I don’t know what is happening. I might ask Dave, my husband. Maybe I should reach out to some other people and see if they ahve the same trouble.
Yes, it’s odd, but in my case very noticeable. But your posts open in the end!
I asked my daughter to look and she said it loaded straight away and then she said you should clear your browser history, not sure if they will help, who knows.
Fair point! She’s right! I’ll do that in a minute. Thanks!
I don’t know if it will work, but I guess it can’t hurt.
