Monochrome Madness – Some lighthouses from Tasmania

So not a theme this week, so I could do what I wanted. As you can see I decided to do some lighthouses. Maybe I should have kept it for a theme week, but I just wanted to do them. Probably had something to do with my post on Sunday.

I realised that I had some other photos of lighthouses from Tasmania and it might be good to see them in Monochrome.

I do think you need mood with images like this and I’ve had to do some work to give some more drama than they were taken with. Of course that means replacing the skies in some. I won’t tell you which ones, and I hope you enjoy them anyway.

Most of them were taken from my last trip but there is one from 2017 and one from 2016.

Information on the next theme is below.

Next week is another theme and Dawn from The Day After will be hosting us again. She has chosen Shadows and Silhouettes. It should be a good theme.

Participating in Monochrome Madness

If you would like to participate in this challenge please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then I can use the reader to see what you post.

You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to my monochrome madness post in your post and it leaves a link in the comment section.

Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced and there is also all the information for participating. We have also included a list of themes that will be coming in the future so if you want to be able to plan ahead you can. They aren’t in order, but will happen. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.

Also if you would like to host one week or more, let me know.

  1. Lighthouses are beautiful. They are historic, mysterious, and romantic. If I ever get a chance I will do a series on the lighthouses in New York and the New Jersey Shore! Nice Post! Thanks!

    1. They are all that Phil, I agree, there is something about how they save people that is appealing too. That would be great Phil. Thank you.

  2. These are fabulous Leanne, and while it’s good to be open about sky replacements, personally I have no problem with it if it creates images as striking as this! However if I were to play guessing games, I’d say top left and bottom right have the replacements?
I’m quite pleased you didn’t choose this as a theme as I’m not sure I have enough lighthouses for a post. But I’m not too far away with my own choice of theme, boats: https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/gallery-seeing-boats-in-black-and-white/

    1. YOu got them right, haha. I have no problem with it either, and I have been doing it for about 12 years when I think an image warrants it. Haha, yeah, I love lighthouses and love to photograph them when I can. Thank you Sarah.

  3. You have made me see the light (house)! The idea of themes rather than stories is something i seriously should contemplate. Keep saying that….lovely shots – as always!

    1. That’s great Geoff, glad you can see it. Themes can be good, I don’t always like them, but this year I seem to be doing a lot. Thank you Geoff.

  4. Stunning photographs! I love lighthouses. They could actually become a bit of an obsession for me but I keep it in check since I already have far too many hobbies and interests for my available free time.

    1. Thank you Laura. I love photographing them, but that is far as I will go with them. I get what you mean about having too many hobbies. It can hard to rein it in some times.

  5. I work in software so obviously I’ve NEVER over thought ANYTHING…

But there’s something sort of poetic about rendering lighthouses in light and dark tones.

    1. No never never overthought anything Matt. lol. My husband is a bit the same.
I agree, I love them in black and white. I might have to explore it more. Thank you Matt.
