Monochrome Wednesday – New York Skyline

For my Monochrome Wednesday image I’m showing an old photo that I had done of the New York Skyline a couple of years ago. It was taken up high.

Monochrome Wednesday – New York Skyline

When I went to New York back in 2015 I had places I wanted to go. That is normal. However, my list pretty much came about because of movies. For example I wanted to see the New York Public Library because of the movie Day After Tomorrow.

The Empire State Building was always on the list for places to see, but I wanted to go up at night. Yep, at night when they met up there in Sleepless in Seattle. Though, I have regretted that decision and do wish I had also done it during the day. Still, no point thinking that. It was still a good adventure.

It gets so busy up there and you do feel like you are up on top of the world. I liked that you were also outside. That you could get photos without having to worry about reflections. We have a great place for seeing the city, but you have to do most of it through glass. There is a place to go outside, but they have this small mesh up and you can’t take photos without getting the mesh in the image.

The Empire State Building has a guard fence up, but the holes in it are big enough to stick a camera through. It is really good. You can even rest your camera on it to take photos, which at night was good.

Still, the biggest shock about being there is the number of people that are there. It was actually a shock to me everywhere in the States, how many people were everywhere. It is so different to here.

The image

I like this image. The way all the lines seem to lead you to the new World Trade Center. It stands out so much. I did distort it a little to give the earth that curvature. The lens did some and then I added to it.

Joining in

It would be great if you would like to participate, especially if you are enjoying the monochrome challenge again. If you want to contribute there is a Facebook groupTPM Photos which you can join and share your images. Of course, if you are blogging no reason why you can’t post your own. I like this challenge and it is nice to be thinking in monochrome again.

  1. That is a very moving image, Leanne. I love how you augmented the curvature just enough to add that “top of the world” feel.

It is interesting that you wanted to see the library from the movie, “Day After Tomorrow”. I love that movie. It’s quite dramatic, but the message is so timely. Too bad our federal government is playing ostrich these days. And “Sleepless in Seattle” is just a classic.

Anyway, thanks for the wonderful photos again. You are always an inspiration.

    1. thank you Tim, I like the idea of being on top of the world.
Oh yes, you are so right, governments really aren’t doing what is good for everyone. Too much corruption there these days.
That is so nice of you to say Tim.
