One Four Challenge for December Week 2

It is Week 2 of Robyn’s, from Captivate Me, One Four Challenge. I thought when I picked the image of the tree that I wouldn’t have any problems trying to figure 4 ways to process it, but I think I need to start thinking about this a little more. Next time I will have to pick an image that I am fairly certain will work a lot better.

This weeks effort.  I knew I wanted to try and make the tree bigger, and I wanted a washed out colour look, though I think I ended up with more of a monochrome look, but I don’t mind it too much.  I wanted to see if I could over exaggerate an Australian summer day.  I haven’t done that this time, but it is something I wanted to keep trying.

I have two more weeks to do something with this image.  I am glad I have another week to start thinking about what I am going to do.  I am sure I can do more with this, but I will have to try some more things.  I have one or two ideas, but I am a bit worried that I am not very good at this.  Oh well, hold onto next week, see what I can do for it then.

I am going to always do a gallery with the original image, and each one that I have manipulated, I like being able to see each one, I hope you do too.

If you want to see more images that others have done for the One Four Challenge then please go to Robyn’s blog post, One Four Challenge – Dec wk 2 and check out the pingbacks.

I just need to remind people that you can comment on this post, and while it doesn’t look like anything happens when you do, it does.  I get all the comments, though it can take me some time to approve and respond to them yet.  I don’t know why this blog is so weird to leave comments on.  I will have to get onto the developers and see what they can work out.

  1. The crop works really well here Leanne, it makes the tree the real star and the windblown effect is exaggerated. That’s unusual for Melbourne to get humidity and I hope you get a break in the weather soon. Whereas we up here near Brisbane are in the midst of summers’ heat and humidity and storms – the usual stuff 🙂

    1. Thanks Lee, I agree, the tree is the star, it seemed like a good idea to make the tree bigger, and I think I had an idea of doing it when I took the image.
It is unusual to get humidity here, though we are getting more and more all the time. I don’t like it, not at all, but it seems to have gone now. I wouldn’t like your summer Lee, 😀

  2. Wow, that’s neat how you made that tree grow out and give the photo such movement. I really felt like there was a strong hot gust of wind blowing that tree about. Nice job!

  3. I know it’s only the second week but I’m looking at the original, last week’s, and this week’s versions and I love this version. The split tone (or is it really only a single tone) is perfect!

  4. I do like seeing where this is going Leanne . It must be difficult to choose images to start with … unless one takes an image with the challenge in mind I guess .

    1. That is great to hear Poppytump, it is an interesting journey. It is hard, and I think you could be right, I’ve been considering the same, if I should take an image specifically for this challenge. Thank you.

  5. There is a dusty feel to this week’s image. I like it, it reminds me of a painting or drawing more than a photograph. Don’t be hard on yourself about this challenge, your talents shine through in all your images. I think that is what is so cool about this, you can’t just make one effort and be done. It makes you uncomfortable, that is where the learning and growth happen 🙂
Looking forward to watching this tree grow into something new next week!

    1. Thank you Carrie, you are so good with descriptions. That is what is cool about it, I do find it it a real challenge doing this, and I like this, makes me try things and push myself. Thanks again Carrie. 😀
