Shooting Cranbourne Botanical Gardens with 2 cameras

A couple of weeks ago, I went to the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens with the hope of doing some macro and maybe getting some nice overall shots. Well, that was a bust.  I bet you can get guess why, if you guessed because it was too windy, well, give yourself a pat on the back.

I think everyone around here is getting very sick and tired of the wind. I don’t mean a gentle breeze, I mean blowing a gale and just not stopping. I’ve never known the wind to be this consistent ever. We do get blustery days, but this is turning into blustery months.

We went to the gardens but didn’t realise how windy it would be until we got there. We tried some macro, but it was basically impossible. I really wanted to try out the new camera for video, but it just wasn’t happening.

I also took the infrared camera with me and tried to use it as well. Here are some of the photos I took with it.

We didn’t hang around much. We ended up doing a fast loop around and then went to lunch. It was really disappointing, but I think until the wind dies down a lot more, getting out to take photos is going to get harder and harder. I guess I need to be patient, that thing that I’m not very good at.

Tomorrow for Silent Sunday, I have found a heap of old photos that I have taken at the gardens on past visits.

  1. Awesome photos! We have months of blustery wind here in Devon in the UK and I totally understand when you say how difficult it is to take photographs in such conditions…

  2. Excellent photo results. Every time I think about going out for macros, I check the wind forecast. It can ruin a good day.

    1. Thank you Egidio, I was going with a friend and it seemed like it was going to be a nice, but the wind really picked up.

  3. You say “. I guess I need to be patient, that thing that I’m not very good at.” I totally get it…… let’s hope the wind dies down soon

  4. Even a slight breeze will hork a macro shot. A constant gale might actually be preferable as long as it’s steady.

Your botanic gardens looks pretty cool, though.

    1. Exactly, it can be very frustrating. I don’t know Matt, no bloody wind would be even better, lol.
      Thank you so much.
