It has been an interesting week and part of it was getting the Tamron 24-70mm G2 lens on loan to test out. There is going to be a review here of it soon, but for now I am getting out as much as possible to take photos to see what it is like. I had an opportunity to take photos around the city on Friday morning when Emily wanted a One on One which was more about showing her the architecture around Melbourne and how to photograph it.

It has been a busy week, though I haven’t really been doing too much, but I do enjoy the catch up here as well as showing you the photos I’ve had on Instagram this week. Though, I can say that a week after the financial ended I have already done my tax, first time ever I’ve done it so quickly. Let’s see what else I’ve been doing.

Dynamic Range Magazine

After panicking about the thought of not having enough for the next issue it is all coming together and articles are flying at me everywhere. It’s great.  I will start sharing with you what will be in the next issue soon.

I’ve been doing a course online about how to use Instagram more and one thing that I am trying to do is give little tips each day. Suggestions for how you can improve your photos, either when taking them or processing them. I don’t know if anyone is even bothering to read them, but it has been good to do. I hope with time people will catch on. Hopefully will help sell my tutorials when I get them done.

If you aren’t following me on Instagram and would like to, there is a link in the side panel.

Book on Banyule Flats

Looks like we are getting close to finishing the book. It is all starting to come together now which is great. Hopefully it will be done in the next 4 to 6 weeks, fingers crossed.

One on One Photography Sessions

I’ve been out a few times teaching these, which has been fantastic. The last two have been so much fun, and I wasn’t in a hurry to finish. It is good meeting new people and just going out to take photos with them.

Instagram Photos

I have the photos for you that I have had up on Instagram this week. Some have been from the One on One’s recently. Some from trips out and at least one from a while back, when I was in Tassie.  I’m sure you will like them, well I hope you do.

Just recently I’ve been asked to do a few One on One Photography Sessions around Melbourne. It has been great to get people who want to learn how to photograph Melbourne like I do. It is also challenging. I met a lovely man from Sydney the other day and we spent a couple of days exploring Melbourne. On the second day I tried to show him some places that perhaps the average tourist wouldn’t really know about.

We met at Federation Square and went to Birrarung Mar, a local park near the city. You can get some great views of the city from there.

The sun was going down and we really were at the wrong end of the city to be making the most of the sunset. It always seems to be the way with me, unfortunately.

I love the images you can get from this bridge, I’ve been there a view times, but these are the first ones that I can say that I really liked.

We also took photos of the trains going in and out of the city, I took lots so I could stack them. Two in the gallery are stacked, this is one and the other is just one image.

To finish off the night we ended up Hosier Lane. A place that is usually photographed during the day. I’d seen some great shots of it at night and thought I would like to try, so I got this.

It was a fun evening and I think my client enjoyed what I showed him and what he got to photograph. We finished off the night with a drink and a bowl of chips with aioli at Young & Jackson, another Melbourne institution. I think he enjoyed his time and got some great shots too. I love showing my city to other people.

I have a gallery of a few more images, plus those above, I hope you enjoy them. Weekend here, and the weather is looking nice. Enjoy.

Melbourne Central Tower from Below

If you live in Melbourne, then you know that Melbourne Central is basically a shopping centre, very similar to lots of others, however, there is also a massive skyscraper that comes out from it as well.  I haven’t photographed it very much, but recently when I was on a trip to the city doing a One on One with someone, when we stopped to have something to eat and review some photos. This is what I saw when I looked up.

Melbourne Central Tower from BelowI have done a lot of work to it, in some ways, but compared to some other images not much at all.  I’ve been looking at a lot of work by Mabry Campbell this week and I am feeling very inspired to try and go back into the city and see what sort of images I can get.  I thought I might just go into the city try taking some photos of some of the buildings in there, see what I can find.

Finding photographers who you really like and can follow is always fantastic.  Mabry has inspired me also to start using Flickr more, so I have been adding photos to my Flickr account, if you are interested in seeing it.  I don’t have many photos there yet, but I will be adding lots more over the coming weeks, I’m looking forward to going through my old photos again and seeing what I have.  I’m sure I will be embarassed by a lot of them.

I am also planning on doing more video tutorials as well, speeding some up.  I really enjoy looking at them sped up.  I don’t know if I will continue doing the longer versions for people to buy, will see.
