Comparing phones with some flowers from the garden

Here is the post to compare the two phones. My previous phone was the Samsung A73 and now I have the Google Pixel 9. As I said yesterday the biggest reason for getting the new phone was for the camera in it. There was nothing wrong with the A73 and it was still working fine, but the camera was not good. I had always hated it.

I’ve struggled with how to do this post, so what I have decided is to start with doing some straight comparisons and using the before and after slider to show them.

For these I was standing in the same place taking the photos. Here is the first comparison. I took some photos of my Japanese maple and zoomed in as far as I could with each one.

The next one is of a rose. The sun was shining on it, so I thought it would be a good comparison as well.

Here is the centre of a hippeastrum, with this one I wanted to see how close I could get. I’m having trouble with this slider for showing vertical images, so with this scroll over the top of it and it will change for you.

Samsung
Pixel

I think now I will just do a gallery going from one phone to another with the images. Let’s take a look. The file name for the photo will tell you which phone was used.

There are a couple of extras there as well. Also, some were taken with a macro lens on the phone too, the Struman Optics one.

I hope you agree with me that the Pixel takes much better photos than the Samsung phone. I am so glad I have the Pixel now and can’t wait to explore with it more.

I will always prefer photos taken with my Fujifilm, but sometimes the only camera you have with you is the one in your phone. So I am happy with it now. I like the way it takes them, and I have switched the camera in it to do raw images as well. Not sure how long I will keep doing that, as I don’t want to use all my storage up on images.

When it comes down to it I don’t think I can recommend the Pixel 9 more. Admittedly I have only just got it, but I can’t see it being any different for other photos either. Stay tuned.

  1. Oh yes, the superiority of the Pixel camera is clear to see! My Redmi takes better photos than your Samsung but nowhere near as good as the Pixel. I’d be tempted but it’s really much more than I want to spend on a phone!

    1. I haven’t heard of that phone Sarah. It is an expensive phone, though if you wait a bit you can pick them up cheaper. Dave’s pixel was not as much, no where near. Thank you Sarah.

  2. These certainly are fabulous shots. But I’m not prepared to spend that much on a phone so I’ll have to make do with my reconditioned Motorola!

    1. Thank you Margaret, oh yes, phones these days are expensive. I was very happy to be able to trade in my old one and get something back for it.

  3. The contrast pictures are nice to check out the differences! I agree the Google Pixel pictures are much sharper. Wishing you lots of fun picture taking with your new phone camera.

    1. I think it is good to compare stuff too. I think the Pixel is better too. Thank you so much Esther, I’m looking forward to playing it a lot more.

  4. The differences are remarkable. How many megapixels are in the Samsung camera? You got beautiful and rich colors withe Google Pixel. I saw a recent feature of the Pixel on a hike I was with a friend. The Pixel makes it easy to stack selfies. So, you can take a group photo and then ask someone to take your place and take the same show with you in the scene. The Pixel will merge both shots!

    1. I think so too Egidio, really amazing. Thank you, I didn’t know you could do that, I should do more research to find out what else I can do with it, thank you for that.

  5. Wow, the difference in the images is huge, Leanne! You chose wisely. Now, try a comparison of the Google 9 VS the iPhone 15 or 16.

    1. I think so too John, I was really surprised at good it really was. I don’t think I will be able to do any comparisons unless someone wants to give me an iPhone. Thank you John.
