Finally the dahlias are starting to flower

A couple of the dahlias have started flowering and many of the others have got buds that are about to burst open. While there are others that are only just started to come up. Funny how they take their time.

I am so happy, dahlias are my favourites I think. I have so many, though this is the first year that I haven’t added more to the garden, though I did dig up some and split them up. They are growing, so I hope to get some flowers from them, especially from one of my favourites.

I want to do more table top photography this summer so the plan is to also pick some to photograph indoors. Wish me luck with that.

Anyway, here are the two that have started flowering. I’ve shown other photos of them taken with my phone and another flower.

    1. Thank you RJ, I love that red, took me a few years to get it. I don’t think of them as too much work, though I don’t dig them each year, but I do have to dig them up every couple and thin them out. I can’t wait to show more.

    1. Yeah, we are most definitely in spring, though summer is basically here for us. It has started to get hot already. While you freeze, we melt. The planet is an amazing place. Thank you Penny.

  1. Beautiful flowers. Beautiful photos. They were my Grandfather’s favs in his garden too. I recall digging them up every fall to store away over the harsh winters.

    1. Thank you so much, apparently they were one of my grandfathers as well. I don’t dig them up to store, though just before spring I have starting digging them and separating them, but not all, hopefully will start doing it every two years. Thankfully our winters are not as harsh, which I am happy about.

    1. Wow, right now could be your best time for photography here now, Leanne. I hope you don’t hate summer proper.

    2. Probably John, here not so much, we have some hot weather coming and it is just to early for it, lol. I like summer for the garden, but I really don’t like the heat.
