Floral Friday – Playing around with some older photos

So I have been playing around more with AI and seeing what is possible. These images are not created by AI, and they are my photos. I have, however, used AI to change the way they look.

I know that some of you don’t like me using AI, but I like to experiment and see what is possible. It is getting better and better all the time. Though, having said that, I would only use it on my photos or to create images, I would never use it for writing.

A friend of mine sent me a video on how to make your photos look like paintings with AI. I know this isn’t a new concept, but the filters that come with PS are pretty crap at it now. So it was fun to see what I could get with the generative fill mode.

What do you think?

  1. I like your statement about using Ai as a tool. But not in writing. Writing is akin to human Ai. We generate pieces through our own life experiences, truths, reality. Even if we write fiction, it is generated from our own “novel” algorithm of life experiences. And as to Ai in photography, it is probably much like when photography transitioned from b-w to color to digital. Each medium has its pros and cons and change can be frightening or inspiring. Your choice.

    1. I couldn’t agree more with you, about writing and photography. AI is here, whether we want it or not and it will be our own choice how to use it. I remember the transition from film to digital photography and I’m hearing many of the same arguments now. I’m for it, to try it and see what I can do with it. If it will help me make better images then I will go for it. thank you so much.

  2. I have no problem with you using AI for photo edits, ideally if you say you have done so. To me it’s no different from editing with Photoshop or any other software. Using it to generate images is a very different and more debatable issue, although again if you declare it, why not? As to writing, I wouldn’t use it for creative writing but my husband has used it a couple of times recently to help compose a difficult letter and i see no problem with that.

As for your images, I really like the little purple flowers in particular. I would have been curious to see them side by side with the originals.

    1. I have to agree Sarah, I think slowly over time it will be a normal part of processing. My daughter uses it in her job too, I can see where it can be good, but I think for my blog me doing the writing is better.
Thank you Sarah, maybe next time I do it I will do that so you can see both. Good tip.

  3. I think they are pretty. Some AI generated photos you can tell, but these, to my eyes, are not that easy. The single petal one is especially lovely, Leanne.

    1. Thank you Anne. I have to admit, I think I like real images too, to a certain point, but I like seeing what is possible with AI.
